Is that what happened to me? I thought I was genetically predisposed to be an asshole.

I'm waiting to see any proof that humans are any more supposed to be gay than any of the "other" sexual oddities that we have out there. If you can say that sex isn't for procreation, and isn't indicated by physiology, then that leaves pretty much anything open. Might as well find a tree with a comfortable knothole and put a friggin dress on it.

Yes, I've seen this argument go back and forth many times... "there's a reason for straight sex..." "Oh, so you're saying the ONLY reason straights ever have sex is to make babies?"

I think of it this way: The underlying, self-evident reason for sex is reproduction. I don't think you can deny that. It's as clear as the sun. We are a two-gender species that reproduces sexually.

Now, in much the same way, the underlying, self-evident reason for eating is to fuel and fortify the body.

But, that does not mean one will harm oneself if one engages in ways or habits of eating the might fall outside of the "just for nutrition" box. In otherwords, taking your loved one to a fancy dinner, or having a bowl of ice cream now and then.

If one eats only for purely practical reasons, life would get miserable pretty quickly. Likewise, if a couple never, ever had sex outside the "we need to make a baby" box... life would be pretty miserable for them.

Likewise, taking things to the other extreme -- eating only ice cream all the time... or fucking everything that moves -- clearly also have negative consequenses.

And we also have people who twist and abuse sex in many ways. From masturbating 20 times a day... (that might be like eating five bags of skittles a day) to things such as molestation and rape (which could perhaps could be likened to holding somebody down and forcing food down their throat against their will as a way to terrorize and control them.)

But sex is still sex.. and food is still food. That some people do strange and sometimes even cruel things with either or both does not change those facts, or the ultimate, self-evident reasons for those the existance of those things in basic human biology.

And again and still.. to deny that reproduction is the foundation and basic reason for sex is, IMO, just as ignorant as trying to deny that nutriton is the basic, underlying reason for eating.

IMO, hetro sex never fully divorces itself from that basic function and foundation.. whereas homo sex was never even there to begin with.

Here here, we have a pretty vigorous argument in the abortion thread about how hard some are trying to minimize the inevitable procreative aspects of sex and boiling it's termination down to "choice".
