Be very specific and give details of the damage to legal marriage that will be done. Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

With "marriage" based on the unchangable and irrefutable "male and female" it used to be thought to be safe. But if you can change something so permanent based on what is "legal", then just as with abortion, another subject that is based on "fair" and "legal" instead of common sense, you are just Fing the whole damn thing up. But to answer your totally bullshit question. Allowing a person to marry their own gender literally wouldn't matter to any one's marriage. But then again allowing a crowd to marry or allowing some dude to marry his pooch won't literally effect an individuals marriage either. But just as homosexual marriage, all those are f'd up situations that should never be considered under the idea of marriage that we currently have.

| too many people worry about the genitals involved in others' marriages really, pretty pathetic ![]() *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance. | So it doesn't matter to you whether your partner has a penis or a vagina? Last edited by pensacola_niceman; 02-03-2008 at 08:55 AM. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Wow, is this ever confusing. The dialog between Tristan and Pen... If Gays want to get married, I don't have a problem with it per se. I guess I just wish that there was no such thing as governmental acknowledgments of love-commitments in the first place. Then again, I wish things were as traditional and strong as they seemed when I was a young girl. I feel that all these issues have chipped away at the innocence that I would have wanted my children to grow up knowing. Kids at young ages are faced with words like "porn, abortion, homosexual..." All these are big matters for such little children. And yet, kids are forced to grow up so fast just to know what's in the news at all. OhDear | |||||||||||||||||||||

Then you really already have your wish. Legal marriage is a contract between two people with the government as a third party that defines the rights and obligations of that contract. Love is not required for this contract and very often is not a part of the marriage equation. If all you want is a love marriage then you can go to a church or jump the broom. If you want the legal rights and obligations of a civil marriage then you need a marriage license. Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

We already worry about incest and age, I don't see why gender shouldn't be a concern.
