| Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is sometimes known as K.S.M., was at the first table. He could not, he explained, work easily with lawyers trained in the American legal system, which he described as evil. “They allow same sexual marriage,” he said, “and many things are very bad.” http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/06/wa...n/06gitmo.html So much for the ostriches who still believe that redefining marriage for homosexuals won't make any difference. | OMG now garysher is preening because he believes the same way that people who support, defend and endorse the 9/11 terrorists???? *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Conservatism: Self-centered mean-spiritedness fueled by ignorance and misguided self-importance. Bigotry is a social disease. Legalized same-sex marriage almost certainly benefits those same-sex couples who choose to marry, as well as the children being raised in those homes. - David Blankenhorn is president of the New York-based Institute for American Values and the author of "The Future of Marriage." | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Should all women wear the burkha so we don't offend fanatical muslims? Or be escorted everywhere we go by a male relative to keep them happy? I don't give a rat's ass if fundamentalists of any kind think badly of us for treating people equally. I worry what people think of us when they hear that we torture people or invade other countries for no reason, that concerns me. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| garysher; Why on earth do you assume that evolution has "no purpose, no needs, no plan or desired outcome". Nothing could be further from the truth. so you are a creationist. Of course there is a reason why fish evolved to survive underwater, crocodiles have eyes on the from of their heads (sic), and giraffes have long necks. you are mixing your arguments. there are reasons why fish live underwater, and benefits to a giraffes neck. but there was no reason why giraffes evolved long necks in the first place. they could have just as easily evolved in a different way. if they had, would that have defied their purpose ? Every single organism on the planet has evolved for a purpose - there are no exceptions. every organism has evolved. every organism has evolved structures and instincts that aid its survival and aid the propagation of its genes. but there was no guiding hand in this process. it is a blind process. evolution had no "purpose" in mind when producing any organism, including us. But behavioural abnormalities such as homosexuality are not a result of evolution, by definition. this might be an interesting start to a conversation about evolutionary science, but lets keep it focussed. you are assuming from the beginning that homosexuality IS a behavioural abnormality. lots of variants in nature are beneficial, whether physical or behavioural. They are a result of a physical and/or mental defect. Just like blindness, dwarfism, siamese twins and the clinically depressed. None of these serve any purpose either. And based on your continued refusal to provide any evidence to the contrary, one can only assume you agree, but are too stubborn to admit it. you have a habit of assuming too much, but i dont think i will be able to stop you there. i have a habit of assuming things about you too, so i cannot complain. i do not think i have failed to provide evidence. i may have failed to provide evidence you find accessable, or understandable, or believeable. i hav certainly provided more independent information than anyone else. there have been those who disagree with what i am saying, but they have admitted they have not read most of it and oppose it on the basis of their opinion only. | |||||||||||||||||||||
