Alright now, you must show respect for other people's religious beliefs. I have a nurse from India and she brings me wooden Elephants back, another sacred animal. I don't worship them as sacred, but I wouldn't disrespect her religion by doing anything untoward to those elephant statues.

You do realize that India has the largest middle class society in the world - right? India is not all starving chilren and homeless families.

In fact, one helluva lot of those jobs that America has lost over the past ten years are now being manned in India - and NOT for starvation wages.

It's no stupider for their poor people to not eat their sacred animals then it is for our poor people to not eat dogs and cats - which are running around in plenty.

India has a very large population. Plenty of people left to be poor. The growth is mainly limited to urban areas. The rural areas are still rather untouched.
Rural poverty in India

There are a billion people there..."Largest middle class" is quite the typical literalspeak.

How true. Outsourcing does not help me when I can't understand these people with those heavy accents. Companies like Dell Computers do that.

Lots of corporations do that. My BANK does that.

When I can't understand somebody, I tell them I need to speak to somebody with more easily understood English.

Believe it or not - you get results.

Honestly, I'm not familiar with how "poverty" is measured. But I seriously think that even some rather middle class Indians are not much better off than our poorest citizens here in the U.S. I'd like to see how that standard is measured for your figures. I've been to some pretty run down areas of trailer parks and slums, but I have seen nothing that compares to conditions in some Indian areas.
