There is no contradiction in my two statements above.
They are two ways of stating the exact same truth.

Because our relationships and lives are no different, we should be accorded the same legal recognition of them, instead of allowing you straight people to continue having your special right to marriage.

Since civil unions have been found not to be equal to civil marriage in New Jersey, this is not an acceptable solution. And it sounds like civil marriage for gays in NJ is coming up next, in order to address that inequality.

It's really quite simple, your efforts to turn logic on its head notwithstanding.

I hope that clears up your confusion.
