Terrible story. This kid was caught between two giant problems in this country: homophobia and the gun culture.

Honestly, though, if I were to have to pick only one of these two problems to make vanish, it would be the gun problem.

The disgust at a boy wearing a dress and heels saying he likes you isn't homophobia. That's downright ignorant on the little transgendered boys' behalf. The murder is on the other kids hands though. But I would wonder about the mental stability of a young man like that who flirts with boys who he knows has problems with him. He was cruising for trouble sooner or later with that kind of behavior. That's like me going to KKK meetings with my wife. Eventually the sh*t will hit the fan.

If you had read the story, you would see that the boy was gay, not transgendered.

Your inability to a) read, and b) tell the difference between a gay person dressing in drag and a transgendered person is "downright ignorant."

The other boys were trying to cow him into falling in line with their limited view of "normal" and he refused to be cowed. If you want to call that behavior mentally unstable, you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

I'd call him brave and proudly defiant.

True.

It's encouragement of the culture of gun violence that needs to be dismantled. The mentality that problems can be solved by shooting people.

You may not approve of burglars or boy-girls but you don't have to shoot them.

In the western world that concept is uniquely American.

BTW I wonder how comfortable the girls at that school would be if this kid had used their rest rooms and lockers rooms instead of the boy's ones?

Would they be considered "homophobic" if they objected to that or should the kid be declared "proudly defiant"??

On this point, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Again, the boy was gay, not transgendered.
He would have had no reason to use the girls' facilities.

Gay guys don't usually wear women's clothing or want to. He was a pre-op. Just because the report said "gay" doesn't make him so.

What is the difference if it is so distinct?

Limited view of "normal" my arse. A one off human male running around with a dress and heels hardly is a "little" abnormal. That's about as limited as calling the moon the sun and trying to convince others you aren't crazy.

Your "brave and proudly defiant" got him shot. I'd rather call him alive.

He would have had no reason to use the girls' facilities.

He had no reason to dress as a girle-boy either.

So pre-op transsexuals don't qualify to use opposite sex facilities in your view?

Is this position clearly stated in the LGBT community handbook?

In your narrow view, yes.
In his view, he had a reason, or he wouldn't have done it.

And since there was no mention of breaking his school's dress code by doing so, it appears he was not breaking any school rule by expressing himself.

I don't believe I stated my position on this topic one way or the other, gary, since this is not the topic at hand.

I know you like to invent things to argue about, but please try to stick to the topic.
