The slippery slope argument is flawed by its very concept

Perhaps we shouldn't have let one marginalized community out of slavery, because it led to another marginalized community wanting marriage rights.

Or maybe you should have just left that marginalized community where they were. This is a different issue. We know why where for that marginalized community, I E white people. Since the genesis of those laws kept white people from marrying any other race, and not vice versa. Poor white people.

Okay, even if the slope were slippery, which it's not, what would be so wrong, IN AND OF ITSELF, in letting gays marry? Who would it DIRECTLY hurt?

No one. But that's not the litmus. We already have limits on marriage that could arguably not cause damage if lifted. And the slope obviously IS slippery if you leave marriage strictly to legal interpretation. "Legal" gave us abortion and feticide in the same state.

It's funny that you use "litmus" as your analogy for something that should be considered acceptable or not (a binary question) when a litmus test itself only determines a DEGREE of how acidic or basic a chemical is.

So by your own definition, using the litmus analogy, whether two people should marry or not should be determined on a continuum of circumstances, and not "yes or no" based on established criteria.

And I'll be damn impressed if you understood all that. But feel free to show me that you are more intelligent than you seem.

I just read in many states it wasn't until 1967 that interracial marriage was legal. I didn't realize it wasn't all that long ago.

In Britian, up until the 1950s, it was still on the books that someone could be put to death for witchcraft.

Yes - and at that time there were more people against interracial marriage than there are now against gay marriage

It wasn't until the late '80's that there was a majority in favor - and that wasn't by a landslide, either
