I'd like to go back to this idea and how it relates to the debate. You have a great point. "Marriage" is just a word that means to join two things, or people, together. So people that are for gay marriage are not the ones trying to redefine marriage. It's the people that are against it that are trying to make the word "marriage" mean just heterosexual marriage.

Marriage isn't only the joining of two things, it can be the joining of two or more groups.

The EU is the marriage of 27 countries.

But the mere fact that you have to try and create a premise for a discussion of homosexual marriage which requires a redefinition of the word, and a request to omit all the reasons people oppose it so vehemently, shows just how desperate your side has become.
