bullshit

total atheists who have never believed in God and will never believe in God and have never even walked in FRONT of a church are allowed to marry.

it is not the government's job to regulate religious dogma. Individual churches can do that - just as they do now - and just as they always have.

there should be no "qualifiers" to equal recognition, benefits and legal responsibilities for U.S. citizens by/from the government

your continued circular arguments just get more and more and more tired and boring...

You know Tristan, you have more rights than most people in the US because of your social-economic status. From all appearances, it seems you and Jon are reasonably well off. You both are highly educated too.

As I posted before, the amount of money you have is really what determines how many rights you enjoy. I would like to ammend that statement by saying that intelligence and education are factors too. Since you and Jon are obviously on the upper end of the intelligence and education benchmarks, and I don't think you are struggling financially, you two are actually on the upper end of most of the measures for quality of life in America. Being gay has nothing to do with the aforementioned.

I'm willing to bet you will say that you are very happy for what you have. There are probably a lot of people who wish they had what you have too.

Well, I have never "poor mouthed" and complained about financial things...and it's true, we have been blessed in our lives and have much to be thankful for.

But there were also Jim Crow era blacks who had nice homes, cars, and took lovely vacations and saw a lot of Broadway shows.

I guess it's an issue of money NOT being able to buy everything - and recognition by the government is one of them.

The reason I like to post to directly you is one of interest. I also tend to correspond to those with enough intelligence to respond in kind. The fact that you're gay only means to me that you are different from me. I can't post enough about how I don't give a rip about that. The point being, any serious discussion I wish to engage with rarely has to your sexual orientation.

So what?

How does that alter the fact that marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God?

it is not the government's job to regulate religious dogma. Individual churches can do that - just as they do now - and just as they always have.

Agreed. That's another reason why your analogy is useless.

there should be no "qualifiers" to equal recognition, benefits and legal responsibilities for U.S. citizens by/from the government

Individuals have equal recognition now. Groupings of individuals don't and were never intended to do so.

your continued circular arguments just get more and more and more tired and boring...

If you didn't keep on raising the same tired, boring lame arguments to try and justify the redefinition of marriage for homosexuals - them we wouldn't need to keep on dismantling them.

It's what you like to call a "circular argument".

At one time country clubs in the U.S. were all-white - when blacks were legally allowed to join, the "definition" of country clubs wasn't changed. When women were finally allowed to legally vote in the U.S., it didn't "redefine" voting, by accommodating women.

Every belief can be called a religion. It is a way to gain the approbation of whatever or whoever one makes their god.

So if one is a hedonist, they are gaining the approbation of their god, their SELF, and the approval of their own self.

Worshipping THAT god may well include moral sins against society and against the one True God.

Just some food for thought...

Every belief can be called a religion. It is a way to gain the approbation of whatever or whoever one makes their god.

So if one is a self-important, pretentiously pious, sanctimonious, holier-than-thou, know-it-all, they are gaining the approbation of their god, their SELF IMPORTANCE, and the desperate need for approval of their own self.

Worshipping THAT god may well include moral sins against society, one's fellow man, and against the one True God.

Just some food for thought...

That's real cute Cubbie, maybe you would prefer, "Lettuce Alone!"

And I can do that. I don't know why I have posted anything other than a little fluff to just say, "Hey" to some old friends.

You all are set in stone in what you think. Believe. Want. And do. I have changed so much myself. And I am not writing here with the agenda to even convince anyone else to those same changes. I don't even know why I posted so such controversy.

I can use my vote for that.

I wish you well and all your friends here. And from time to time, maybe I can post something in the off topic. Especially during football season!
