The next paragraph contains a quote from an expert who states that some alternate sex practices are more dangerous. He does not state which alternate sex practices. And, since the previous paragraph was written by the author of the article, the expert probably was not even aware that his statement would follow the previous statement. You are reading connections here where there are none.

As I said, it is well known that oral sex, though not absolutely safe, is safer than penetrative sexual activity of any kind.
