The article was about one thing but the part of the article that OD created this thread about is valid to her point she was making. You telling me to change the thread is kinda worthless since I didn't create it. I just understand what she is trying to say. If a story about drug use in general posts statistics about a specific race, it's okay to take those particular statistics and create a post or thread about that race from that information. Even if the article itself was just about drug use, the effects of drug use, or how much drugs cost.

As mentioned by forester, neither gay men nor lesbians were included in the article you cited. This article was about heterosexual young people, not homosexuals. You should find an article about homosexual activity.

I will take from your avoidance of the answer to this question that you agree that the latter is safer. I posed this scenario to make the point that safer behavior is safer behavior, and risky behavior is risky behavior. It doesn't matter whether a person is gay or straight.

Another misconception spread by evangelical pastors and crack-pot radio hosts like Michael Savage is that all gay people are depraved and promiscuous. I'm sure you've heard of studies done by right-wing "research" firms that report that the average gay male has had upward of 100 sexual partners or so. Those who cite these studies don't tell you all the information, though. They don't tell you that they went to gay clubs in cities like San Francisco, LA, and New York to ask these questions. They would have you believe that most gay people are like the people who are regulars at these clubs.

The fact is that most gay people are not into the gay club scene. Consider if you did a similar study and wanted to know the average number of partner heterosexual people have. If you went to the downtown area of a large city and polled only the people who were coming out of the clubs and bars there, would you get an accurate account of what heterosexual behavior is like?

The fact is that gay people and gay couples are everywhere--even in small towns in Nebraska--and most of them are never heard from in studies like these. If you really want to learn, then learn this: Many gay people are promiscuous just like many straight people are promiscuous. But MOST gay people are not any more promiscuous that MOST straight people.

I know several gay people, and gay couples who have had very few sexual partners (even one or none) and they are not extremely young.

I would also ask you how many gay people you know personally.
