I think she's trying to figure out why, since homosexuality has such a long human history, there are no modern cultures that have recognized until fairly recently. She is rightly concerned that the bullshit is spreading.

I'm saying that those reasons were all geographically dependent. Homosexuality for the last period of history was considered deviant throughout the human species.

The Greeks had an active gay community. To the best of knowledge, Greece is still around - at least it was when were there two years ago.

The French have always been very open-minded about gays - I think they're still around.

Now, I don't know if they accepted gays as early as 250 years after the founding of their countries, as the U.S. is coming to do.

Actually, gays were quite open in Germany until the Nazis took over. And, as far as I know, have again a very public visibility.

I have said over and over - I think that homosexuality - like many other humans that people have had a problem with - is only now being given more visibility world-wide and there is less and less mystery about it. As the unknown is scary, the best thing for gay people is to be visible.

It looks like they are about to ride into the city screaming "the gays are coming, the gays are coming". How ridiculous is it to argue that the gay population will be taking over the population of the states. a little skittish are we?

I've never been all that thrilled with being normal - being ordinary, mundane, average, run-of-the-mill and pedestrian holds no allure for me.
