I was talking about couples who are married for years, have children, then one of them suddenly discovers they are homosexual.

Different situation to what you are describing.

The point about adopting children is that the authorities who choose the adoptive parents have the ability and the responsibility to choose the best possible parents for the child. I fully agree that doesn't always happen naturally.

But by giving children to homosexuals the authorities are going against what's best for the child - the ideal situation you described - and buckling to political pressures from the homosexual lobby.

No, the authorities are doing what is best for the child.

The number of heterosexual couples that wish to foster or adopt older children are few and far between. So, the choices for them are to either stay in the overburdened foster care system or go to loving homosexual families.

Last time I heard, one lady on this board and her wife's adopted child is very happy with both of her adopted moms. Better for the child to have two loving adopted moms than live in state-run care.

Are we to still believe that most parents that pursue adoption are in this mode of "selection"?

So, then, please explain why there are over 100,000 children in the system?

The fact is, most people want BABIES, or at least small children. Once they turn 10-12, most people don't want them anymore.
