Funny thing is I feel that the wife in this instance, could have 'saved' her marriage if she'd really wanted to. Out of the both of them, she had the more flexible career then her husband did. In otherwords, if saving her marriage was as important to her as her career, she could have easily transferred to California...

Her husband though, couldn't get a 'transfer' for his career...Pretty much tied to his location, where she wasn't.

Yet, no matter how much whining the anti-SSM crowd does in order to try and relate their divorce to SSM? It simply just doesn't work. Because neither of them divorced because of SSM period...Simply divorced because of distance and seperation of lives.
You're very eager to accept their pitiful excuse that distance and separation caused their divorce.

That is nonsense.

They caused their own divorce by choosing to live apart, by putting their "careers" ahead of their marriage.

I never said they divorced because of his support for homosexual marriage.

I said Newsom is utterly unsuitable to be a champion for redefining marriage - or anything to do with marriage - when he obviously has nothing but disdain for the institution of marriage, and broke his own marriage vows after just three years.

It would be like Davy Crockett being a spokesman for vegetarianism.

But apparently the lying hypocrite Newsom is the best the homosexual activists can drag up.

I don't know anything about McCain's alleged adultery, but if he can't keep his pledge to his wife why should we believe he would keep a pledge to uphold the Constitution?

Truth is, a lot of people on both sides of the same-sex marriage issue have been divorced. So your argument is seriously lacking in potency.

Which spokesperson for the defence of traditional marriage broke his vows to his wife and put his career ahead of his marriage?

Give me a list of spokespeople for the defense of traditional marriage, and I'll pick out the ones who qualify.

Before I do that do you agree that Gavin Newsom is a sorry spokesman for anything to do with marriage, since he clearly doesn't give a damn about the institution of marriage?

of course not

that's like saying that every minister who breaks the ten commandments is a sorry excuse for a minister

I certainly don't think that Newsom is a spokesperson for traditional marriage. And I don't think that the majority of people actually give a damn about the institution of marriage, they just get married because that's what people do. Most people are totally engrossed in their own lives and their own problems, that they don't give any thought to anything outside of their immediate surroundings. That is why there are so many divorces. People are selfish and self centered.

I think it's less about the actual marriage and more about equal rights.

But if you pose as a champion of a set of values for which you have nothing but contempt - then you are a shallow hypocrite.

It would be like the President of MADD getting pulled over for DUI every month.

How appropriate that the homosexual "community" would end up with a shallow, vacuous, failed flake like Newsom as their spokesman for redefining marriage.
