The California Supreme Court could have handled this issue in a more procedurally manageable way. The new anti-gay marriage initiative, if passed, is going to create some legal issues for those who get married.

Legal issue affects timings of gay weddings - Yahoo! News

They should have stayed the order until November. If the amendment passes, they will have created a mess. If the amendment fails, as I think it will, then the issue is resolved in California.

Of course, they could make a second run at the amendment, but second runs have an even smaller chance unless something bizarre happens, e.g. some gay marriage riot.

And I've never read anything that indicated that my "bigotries" are wrong. why should I change my point of view if everything about them is correct? And it's not prejudice to say homosexuality is aberrant. It just is.

If anything, those that disagree with me are being just as bigoted as I am If not even more so.

Your advocation of discrimination is bigotry.

Disagreeing with you is not bigotry.

Bigotry is not an epithet or a value judgement. It's a defined word with definition parameters. Disagreeing with you is not within the boundary.

Same sex unions are not a marriage. That's just fact, not discrimination. Just as a man is not qualified to be a "mother" even though he is a human being just as a female is. No man should ever be called a "mother" and I can't think of a situation where a man is defined as a "mother".

But in disagreeing, calling me a bigot for expressing my opinion is just as bigoted.

And what are those parameters that include me but excludes those here that exclude me? With a link please.

Ok, I'll bite.

Here's a good definition.

Quote:
Bigotry, the intolerance, fear, and hatred of those different from ourselves is still a far too common occurrence in the world today. Bigotry is almost universally considered wrong because it robs others of their rights as human beings through discrimination and persecution.
THE NATURE OF RELIGIOUS BIGOTRY

Seems to me that the anti-gay marriage crowd are trying to rob others of their rights as human beings. Of course, this is from a site espousing tolerance...

How about the voters get used to the fact that their marriages will not become any less meaningful if gays are allowed to marry? Maybe we should let them realise the sky will not fall and the world will not end if we allow gay people to marry.
After all, these homophobes are only against gay marriage because their religion is against it.
Take religion away and they don't have a leg to stand on.

The net result will be a further dilution and devaluation of the institution of marriage, fewer people bothering to marry, a further breakdown in the family and a greater erosion of the fabric of society.

And this is a bad thing because..? Society needs a kick in the ass now and then, it cannot remain stagnant. And please inform me why our version of society is the correct version. Because I don't feel that way at all, as a matter of fact, I think that our society is a twisted unbalanced version of the interrelation of humanity, and is destined to suffer the same fate of those previous societies who couldn't maintain it's power through oppression any longer.
