So Fire Her Ass If She Doesn't Want to Perform Her Job
One California Clerk Refusing All Marriages by The Associated Press
Posted: June 6, 2008 - 5:00 pm ET
(Bakersfield, California) A California county clerk says she'll stop performing all marriage ceremonies shortly before a state Supreme Court order legalizing same-sex marriage takes effect.
A newspaper says the move came after the clerk received advice from Kern County lawyers who said marriages cannot be performed in a discriminatory fashion.
The Bakersfield Californian says Clerk Ann Barnett said Wednesday she would not have the staff or space to deal with an increase in licenses and ceremonies. She plans to stop all ceremonies starting June 13 - three days before gay couples may legally wed.
The newspaper reports she asked county counsel to file a brief with the California Supreme Court opposing implementation of its May 15 ruling allowing gay marriage.

Don't worry, if this story is correct this poor woman Ann Barnett will become yet another victim of the callous homosexual activists bigots.

If she belongs to a union they can't fire her and will have to cave into her demands. Otherwise, the county will get the shit sued out of it.

Or maybe they can just give her another position in another department. It's really not that big a deal. It's not like it's illegal to have a set of morals.

I think she should be fired too. It might teach her a lesson that a job you are hired to do is not subject to your personal approval. If you don't like it - just quit.

I don't think she should be fired. Especially in a government position. I've seen plenty of people in governmental positions that sucked at their jobs, yet still got to them. If she is otherwise a good employee, I'd rather she get shifted to another position that she finds less personally repulsive. Maybe she could give out fishing licenses or something.

No union is going to support an employee hired to do a specific job who then decides the job is not for her.

County clerks have a specific job description - if she is unable to perform her job - for whatever reason - get rid of her.

There are lots of people out there (highest unemployment rate in decades right now) who would be happy to perform the job.
