The "Me" generation started in California too. That's why we have secretaries that are required by law NOT to bring coffee to their managers (too demeaning).

California is a fucked-up state and is ruled by the rich elite in the entertainment industry, and mostly populated by our "friendly neighbors from the South."

Why a disenfranshised Brit would want to live there is beyond me.

Hey Gary: if you really want to experience true America, get your stupid ass out of LA. Go where? I can give you some suggestions.
I find it pretty amusing that someone from Florida would dog California.

California has always been on the cutting edge of fashion, food, wine, art, music, film and politics....some good, some bad, but the freedom of spirit has allowed this state to become one of the largest economies on the planet and the federal tax dollars alone that generate from this state contribute more than probably all the red states combined. Given our agriculture, technology and productivity, we could be our own country.

...which is more than I can say for Florida, The Hanging Chad State...

Please don't judge our whole state by one sad individual. We had him shipped to Iraq for a reason.

I've lived in California for 12 years - it isn't all the stereotype that you hicks think it is!

I enjoy the cosmopolitan nature of LA - diversity as you yanks like to say - and the energy of the place.

I love the weather here and wouldn't want to swap it for some Bible belt boondock that gets hit by tornados, floods, snow, hurricanes and unbearable humidity all year long!

You can be happy pursuing a homosexual lifestyle without forcing everyone else to accept a bigoted redefinition of marriage against their will.

The "will of the people" was to have black people as slaves at one point, too. Of course, we got the idea from your country, gary.

It seems that after 12 years, gary doesn't understand basic Civics 101 here in America.

Wrong again.

Britain never had slavery, nor did it have the kind of vicious apartheid laws you had in America until quite recently.

And Britain made slavery in its colonies illegal long before your Civil War

Possibly not.

It seems that the will of the people doesn't count for much in parts of America. You prefer being governed by judicial fiats.

Fortunately I was raised in a country where democracy actually works
