Pastor Anderson: God Punishes Gays “With the Death Penalty”

(ChattahBox)—Pastor Steven Anderson believes in a God of hate, wrath and vengeance and he preaches his frightening message of hate to his congregation of young families three times a week at his independent, fundamental Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona. One of his frequent subjects of scorn is homosexuality and Pastor Anderson teaches his followers to not only hate gays, but advocates that they be punished and executed with the death penalty.
Pastor Anderson heads the Faithful Word Baptist Church, which he describes as a “…King James Bible only, separated Baptist church” that opposes “…worldliness, modernism, formalism, and liberalism.”
The church doctrinal statement spells out his belief that gays should be put to death. “We believe that homosexuality is a sin and an abomination which God punishes with the death penalty.”
Pastor Anderson is described on his Web site, as a man with “…no college degree but has well over 100 chapters of the Bible committed to memory, including almost half of the New Testament.” In other words, he parrots memorized words from the bible, with no formal education to round out his understanding of religious concepts.
He advocates eating bananas, avocados and nuts to help in bible memorization.
During a recent sermon, Anderson employed vile hate language, anger and shouting to get his point across about how he feels about homosexuals, “queers” and “faggots”
Anderson began his rampage against gays by saying, “The biggest hypocrite in the world is the person who believes in the death penalty for murderers and not for homosexuals”
“The same God who instituted the death penalty for murderers is the same god who instituted the death penalty for rapists and for homosexuals, sodomites and queers”
Anderson then goes on to paint gays as child molesters, including Congressman Barney Frank.
“The sodomites are recruiters and you know who they are after? Your children. They are being recruited by the sodomites. They are being molested by the sodomites. They recruit through rape, they recruit through molestation, they recruit through violation”
“Our country is run by faggots. You know who was the man who was the architect of the bailout? His name is Barney Frank, he is a pedophile…”
“That’s who just sold our country into fascism. That’s who just sold our corporations to the government. That’s who sold out our country, a faggot!”
“I’m not going to stand by and let a faggot run the church. It’s bad enough that we have a bunch of faggots running the government.”
Anderson also took aim at the United Methodist Church saying, “10 percent of their preachers are queers—-they got a dyke and faggot behind the pulpit”
In his August 16, sermon entitled, “Why I Hate Barack Obama,” Anderson viciously attacked President Obama in the name of God, preaching to his congregation that God wanted them to hate Obama and that as a supporter of abortion rights, he was a murderer who deserved the death penalty, just like the gays.
“God Hates Barak Obama, I hate Barack Obama. I hate Him. God wants me to Hate Barack Obama.” “Someone who commits murder should get the death penalty, said Anderson.
Anderson then compared President Obama to Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin, as “…evil sadistic butchers of history.”

Abd just how did he "incite murder"? He never told anyone to go out and kill gays or the president. he simply said God imposed the death penalty on gays. Which is a much easier interpretation of the scripture than any interpretation that say "gay is OK" and hey should be allowed to marry.
And as for Obama and murder, that's a stretch, but abortion IS killing what common sense tells you is a developing human. It's not too often a woman is thinking she's aborting a tree or a platypus. So it's not all that extreme to advance that concept to be against "Thou shalt not kill".

Perhaps that's why he hasn't been arrested for it yet. Plenty of opportunity, a google shows he quite the troublemaker. This sermon may just be another incident of him testing his "constitutional rights".

Even if you thought homosexuality was a sin, who would want to go to a church that is so obsessed with homosexuality (of course, I can think of about 2000 reasons why I wouldn't go to that church)?

The Reverend has a nice command of the English language. "Faggots?" A preacher using slang insults? What's next "Brothers and sisters, if you steal, you are a prick and an asshole." A preacher hurling insults doesn't seem very Christian.

Though I am pro-choice, I can see the abortion arguments on both sides. Frankly, a politician's stance on abortion is not anywhere on my Top 20 list of issues that concern me. I think the constitutional principle behind Roe v. Wade is highly suspect. I think the issue should have been left to the states, which would mean that we would have some states that allow it, and others that don't.

Someone posted here about the principle of "voting with your feet." I liked that rule. If I don't like how my state addresses issues, I can always move to another state.

I just cannot get over this "preacher" and his obsession with homosexuality. Adultery is proscribed by the ten commandments. Given that there are far more adulterers than gays, shouldn't adultery be his main theme? Why doesn't he blast off on "sluts" and "insert slang for male adulterer here"?

I agree with you on all accounts.

But I also think this preacher is a "constutitutional rights" ofender. His name in google kicks back a few other antics.

AS far as his use of the word "faggot", it's just part of his schtick. no different than any other slur if you are trying to be offensive. Fahhot, nigger, wetback, chink, spic, bulldagger etc all have a place depending on what you are trying to do, the message you are trying to put out, and you audience.

And adultery is usually done in the shadows, it's understood to be wrong. To a religious nut, the spreading social acceptance of homosexuality is critically more important if you take the Sodom message int he scripture to mean the end is coming.

Just saying.
