Jerry Falwell Dies
cbs5.com - Jerry Falwell Dies At Age 73

Christianity just got a little better, and hell just got a little worse...

Looks like Ol' Falwell is taking a trip to someplace warm.

Doubtful. Threre are enough wacked-out dominionists to keep it running for a long time.

Still, break out the rum and play some loud heavy metal music! Time to celebrate, 'cause the world just got a tiny bit better.

Personally I deplored most everything the man stood for. If per chance there was anything he stood for that was not an affront to humanity and making this planet better, I cannot say I know of it.

Still while you are talking all this, "tiny bit better" talk, I think it is sad that we cannot instead mourn that another life ended. And that it ended without the revelation of the value of EVERY human life before his own came to an end.

It is to me, giving in to his own message of intolerance and hatred for select people groups, to revel in his death.

It even makes him an anti-hero legacy and gives credence to his own intolerant gospel by voicing the same to eulogize him.

I'd feel sympathy if I could, but I can't. I honestly hated this guy's guts, especially after 9/11 when he made that remark on the 700 Club. I can't feel bad for everybody who dies, because, unfortunately, some people are better off that way. Falwell happens to be one of those people. My only regret is that he had to die before he shut up. Any loss of human life is unfortunate, but I'm not gonna grieve for somebody like him.

On September 13, 2001, the Reverend Jerry Falwell made the following statement on his television show "The 700 Club".

"I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative life style, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this to happen'". (I added the bold)

In a phone cal to CNN Dr. Falwell clarified his remarks by adding that only hijackers and terrorists were responsible for the attacks.

"I do believe, as a theologian, based upon many Scriptures and particularly Proverbs 14:23, which says 'living by God's principles promotes a nation to greatness, violating those principles brings a nation to shame,'" he said.

Dr. Falwell did not say that the groups and organizations mentioned above caused 9/11.

Dr. Falwell said he believes the ACLU and other organizations "which have attempted to secularize America, have removed our nation from it's relationship with Christ on which it was founded."

"I therefore believe that that created an environment which possibly caused God to lift the veil of protection which has allowed no one to attack America on our soil since 1812," he added.

I recently watched a series on The Revolutionary War. It was a genuine miracle that we even won our independence. Events like the fog that protected our troops during the evacuation of Brooklyn early in the war, and many more incidents later could only have been the hand of God. Abraham Lincoln faced seemingly insurmountable odds during the Civil War. Franklin Roosevelt faced extremely difficult problems during WWII and also got help from the hand of God (Dunkerque and Normandy, the battle of the bulge among them.)

Yes, God's hand of protection has been on us. Many disasterous ideas like "Separation of Church and State, quite possibly has caused God to remove his protective hand from our great nation. God help us, if we continue down this hazardous path.

One thing I know for sure. We are poorer for his passing, but he is now in a far better place, hearing God say, "Well done thou good and faithful servant".
"For my own part, I sincerely esteem it a system which without the finger of God, never could have been suggested and agreed upon by such a diversity of interests".
Alexander Hamilton, 1787 (After the Constitutional Convention)

"An abortion kills the life of a baby after it has begun. It is dangerous to your life and health".
Planned Parenthood, 1963

I think his passing maybe a good thing for the world as a whole. He was a hate-monger in priest's robes.
I won't get on the 'yay he is dead train' though. It just seems wrong to me. I think we should let dead dogs lie.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour

I am sure there will be another preacher to take over Falwell's position and carry on the crusade......

I personally drank a toast that the world got better today, if only a smidge. Whereas it's true that the loss of any human life is sad, it is sad that the loss of some human lives makes the world better, that is just the case with Jerry Falwell. The man was an evil bigot who made the world worse with each word he spoke. I only hope that in his next life he is able to level out his Karma.
Fight the good fight, and die with the enemy's heart in your hand.
