It is my opinion that people need a better education on politics overall. This includes not only Communism and the theory behind it, but capitalism, representative democracy, and our own Constitution.

I agree. Teach them the benifits and harms of not just one side, but all sides and let people think for themselves or once! Its always easier to point out the faults of others. Once we the American people know and acknowlege the faults of our own system will we be a better nation.

Thus is why dissent is so imperative to preserving Democracy.

Well said! This is the way I feel when it comes to evolution and creationism. I don't want to change the subject, but you get my drift.

Well that's an entirely different story. Communism is a part of history just as Capitalism, and thus both should be taught. But Creationism or Intellegent Design is not science. If you want your kids to know about creationism, send them to sunday school or get off your lazy arse and teach your own child something.

If it was part of an International Politics class sure why not? "Communism" in a broad sense is the twisted and contorted ideology that was stolen from Marxism. Except Marxism was extremely well thought out and entirely legitimate from a socialist standpoint.

Yeah no shit (excuse my language). Instead of shoving history classes down people's throats they should focus on Political Science classes. Learning about WWII is nice, but after the first 550 times it get's "old". I bet you half the people in America don't even know what the hell a "Majority Whip" is.
\"The improvement of understanding is for two ends: first, our own increase of knowledge; secondly, to enable us to deliver that knowledge to others. \" -John Locke

War is not fought over Religion. Religion taken out of context is used as an ideological scapegoat to ensure one's own socio-economic conditions are met.

Would you then support the teaching of the benefits and harms of National Socialism as well?

yea definately, Communism was a driving force in the 20th century, and I think the faults of the communist system should be brought to the fore front though, and maybe the schools should focus more Marxism. As Marxism is atleast understnadable to today's standards, and was good in theory, but yet a little too much extreme, as communism warped the ideas of Marxism too much, and was way too extreme. Personally I am all for the new age of Socialism within countries, and believe that some, but not all, Marxist ideas can be put towards socialism in today's world, as we need a stronger Proletariat class in our world, a working class that will stand up for them and not get robbed of it's livlihood, as the Proletariat class needs more government programs looking out for them, and governments need to lend more of a supporting hand, which is a big idea of Marxism/Socialism that needs to be taught in today's society.
