What I don't understand is a motive to lie about such an incident. What is the bigger story here?

Hi guys. I've been really busy lately but I pop in and read a little here and there. I have to say that this is such a foolish subject. Cheney should be inpeached for the shit he's done but really, who cares if he shot a republician. On the other hand I would rather go hunting with Cheney than take a drive with Kennedy!!!

Yeah, that's the big question. Up to this point it really is up to your imagination. Because on one hand, why did they lie and cover up something. And on the other hand, why would they tell the press even if it is local about the incedent if they wanted to keep it hush hush? I personally think Cheney was intoxicated, and was hunting while he was drunk and either shot his friend on accedent because he was out of it, or he lost his temper. That would explain the whole bit about the SS (Secret Service) refusing to allow police officers interrogate the Vice President after the incedent, and not until the day after. Perhaps to give him time to sober up? Who knows.

I don't know, but that week was a really good time for Cheney to shoot someone. It really covered up a lot of stuff. Like new Abu Ghraib photos, the military refusing to release Abu Ghraib photos/videos, the UN calling for the closure of Guantanamo, etc.

If he'd shot at him from 15 feet, and peppered him the way he did, it would have KILLED Wittington. Period.

This story is crap.

It was clearly shown that at a longer distance the spread would have been too wide to hit him so many times.

Why did they stall the story? Why the lies about the incident? There is something bigger just beyond the surface.
