Strange and Terrible Wars in Africa
Have you ever heard of the Lord's Resistance Army? I just saw this today on a Christian TV broadcast and it amazes me I've never heard of this group before.

I know anyone can submit to wiki so I'll quote from this one. BBC news.

It’s not only the children who live in fear. In addition to battling government forces, the rebels are targeting the wider Acholi population, the largest group in northern Uganda. Sexual violence, mutilation and massacres are common. Up to 100,000 people have been killed since the conflict began.
Now look at this from Liberia.

Quote:
The film contains footage of some of the most gruesome murders of people and the destruction that was carried out during the war but without doubt the encounter with General Butt Naked is the highpoint of the documentary.

In the film, the born-again preacher declares “this is General Butt Naked but by the grace of God, I am now evangelist Joshua Blaye”.

He admitted to killing and ordering the killings of over 10,000 people and eating the hearts of some of his victims to solidify his charms and to fulfill the rules of his rituals.

He admitted that while growing up, he practiced witchcraft and was deeply involved in ritualistic killings.

He said parts extracted from his victims were then sold on demand to traditional voodoo and witch doctors, who would in turn produce the necessary charms that were sold out to people who were seeking higher and public offices in Liberia.

But something led him to abandon the killings and cannibalism for the Bible.
“One day a voice told me to quit because I was a slave to my charms, he said in the film. After I heard that voice, gunshots which never came close to my body now began to hit me”.
I know it has been in the news but still, compare the vastness of it to Iraq and then think about the amount of coverage...

Almost three years after the end of a half-decade war that killed a jaw-dropping 3.9 million Congolese, mostly through starvation and disease, fierce fighting continues in the remote, eastern part of the country.
Of course Idi Amin was infamous but still if this had happened in Europe or can you imagine North America...?

400,000 people are believed to have been killed under his rule.

Morality is not contingent on religion to exist. Therefore religion only detracts from the purity of morality.

According to the soldiers themselves, cross-dressing is a military mind game, a tactic that instills fear in their rivals. It also makes the soldiers feel more invincible. This belief is founded on a regional superstition which holds that soldiers can "confuse the enemy's bullets" by assuming two identities simultaneously. Though the accoutrements and garb look bizarre to Western eyes, they are, in a sense, variations on the camouflage uniforms and face paint American soldiers use to bolster their sense of invisibility (and, therefore, immunity) during combat. Since flak jackets or infrared goggles aren't available to the destitute Liberian fighters, they opt for evening gowns and frilly blouses.
