What possible defense could an armed Marine have for shooting unarmed women and toddlers?
I think it's well known that the Al Qaida uses women and children as suicide bombers. When women and children are hanging out with adult male terrorists, it's likely they will die also!

Evidence uncovered by the media contradicted the Marines' account.[3] A Time magazine reporter's questions prompted the U.S. military to open an investigation into the incident. The investigation claimed it found evidence that "supports accusations that U.S. Marines deliberately shot civilians, including unarmed women and children", according to an anonymous Pentagon official.[4] On December 21, 2006, eight Marines from 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines were charged in connection with the incident.[5][6] As of June, 2008, charges against seven of the eight Marines had been dropped.[7] In the course of Article 32 hearings, conflicting testimony has been presented, some of it rebutting the case made by prosecutors and widely cited in the media. The investigating officer has told the prosecution so far, "The account you want me to believe does not support unpremeditated murder." He conceded that the central issue was who is to be believed and that he was disinclined to recommend a trial.

That's a longshot from cut and dry. They labeled all the Iraqi witnesses in the killings "unreliable" (I guess only military personnel were considered reliable). There was also eyewitness testimony from other soldiers.

Something horrible happened at Haditha that day. I don't know how many are guilty of war crimes but some of them almost certainly are.

That said, they were indeed cleared. That doesn't mean they weren't guilty - that just means they didn't have enough evidence (or backbone) to prosecute.

Please post proof that the owners of the homes where the shootings took place were confirmed members of al Qaeda. Include links. Thanks.

I think it's safe to say there was no evidence to convict these brave Marines.
The real question is, "Why did Time magazine and John Murtha declare our Marines to be guilty of murder with no credible evidence?"

I see nothing to indicate these individual Marines were "brave." In fact, a lot of testimony says quite the opposite.

Again, I ask:

Without having access to the details of the court-martial, I'm confident in saying these unarmed people that were killed were not so innocent.
I don't care if a baby 3 weeks old was killed, the baby's parents should not have aided terrorists. The parents are at fault.
These parents did not respect their child's well being enough to not associate with terrorists.

Oh, wouldn't it be nice if every situation were as cut and dry as you make this one out to be? Unfortuantely, it isn't that way.

It's very cut and dried after a formal court-martial.

In other words, they were just stupid brown people who deserved to die because US Marines never do anything wrong? And people wonder why much of the world hates us.

Again, you have no proof anyone was "aiding terrorists." What "terrorists?" Are you one of those people who think all Iraqis are "terrorists?"

Again, there's no proof there were any terrorists. A little infant doesn't deserve to be shot for no reason. Your attitude is a shining example why crazies will continue lobbing airliners at our skyscrapers for years to come.

I'm not sure why you mention skin color and from traveling all over the world, I would say "Liberals" hate Americans, not the majority of the world.
If you have a problem with Military justice, take it up with your Congressperson.
