What does color have to do with anything. There are about 3 white baseball players on the Seattle Mariners and the rest are Black and Latino. The least paid make at least 1 million a year and a few make 8 or 9million a year. Who do I file my complaint with? The ACLU?

However the point is that its crazy that such a furore can be created around healthcare expenditures when the government spends billions upon billions killing people.

It is PRECISELY because it is not free that i brought up the topic of military spending. Healthcare requires money. So instead of looking for reasons why it CAN'T be funded publicly, why not look at alternative spending of tax dollars?

If people like you would lend half the passion FOR universal healthcare, you would still be as safe in your country ( like i said the military got plenty of bombs to annihilate the planet several times over) AND you would instead have a situation where the government could actually AFFORD to pay for universal healthcare.

But healthcare already IS publically funded.

I just went to visit a friend of mine in the hospital. She just had a tumor removed from her stomach, and gastric bypass surgery. She needs both her knees replaced, but she has to lose 100 lbs before they'll do it. She has already had both rotator cuffs operated on.

She is a 44-year old black lady who, though perfectly capable, has not worked a day in her life. Not only that, she's been going to college for the last 10 years - at public expense.

She does NOT have health insurance. YOU say it's because she can't afford it. I say it's because she's living off the American Gravy Train called Welfare.

Who in Sam Hill do you think has paid for all of her operations? Me - and every other American taxpayer.

No one is ever denied emergency care in America. If they can't pay, the ones with insurance pay. That is the reason for high costs of hospital care.

It is not the government's role to pay for health care for citizens. The role of the government is to protect the citizens so they may live their lives in peace and protection to go about their pursuit of happiness. That is government's role. This is what people who want to government to take care of them do not understand.

They don't want to have it paid for them... they just want to pay taxes into a regulated government agency so health insurance is provided for all. Corporations will put profit over health. We need an organization that is not motivated by profit to regulate health insurance for every citizen. And the citizen's would flip the bill (equally amongst all of us).

Watch how quickly the laws would change that affect health negatively. Corporation would have to become more moral. It would be awesome to witness.

Everyone already has health care in this country. No one is turned away. Do you really want the government to control health care? Have you talked to any Canadians lately? It's a mess. No thanks. All corporations provide health care for their employees.

Most of the countries (including Canada) that have government control over health care have higher life expectancy than us and total coverage of citizens.

Nearly half of corporations in America do not provide health care for their employees.

Hevusa I think this is a key factor that really should be expressed. Raising minimum wage according to inflation, year after year, not every 10 or so years, would be fine.

Could we all come upon that agreement?? If you slowly raise minimum wage, it shouldn't have a bad effect. If you raise it by a couple of dollars every 5-10 years, it could cause small businesses to lay off some workers and hence, raise the unemployment numbers.

Just my assumption.
