I'm actually not reading Foundit's post. I read a few back a few, but he's talking about the New Testament, and to be honest, I've never read it, so I certainly wouldn't be able to argue the fine points. I can't read every single post on this board. I have a life.

You don't have to believe in something to have a valid opinion about it, or to debate it within a logical and/or ethical framework. I've played positions I don't agree with in various debates throughout my life because I was assigned to do so. A good debator can debate both sides of an opinion.

I'm not debating with Foundit, I'm debating with you.

"How do you know" is the second worst theological debate, because no one knows, at least, no one alive, besides God, who may or may not exist. I am saying that having a man who is also a God is idolatry because it lends God an image, and images of God are assur.

Then maybe before you criticize me, how about making sure you are correct in your analysis without using the excuse you can't read every thread.

A man is an image. Making an image of God is idolatry. Therefore, saying that God is also a man is idolatry, because it is creating an image of God.

Then again, if there is no God, or if, in fact, the lord of the universe is a giant purple sardine, we'd both be wrong.

Man is an image of what? You just can't be an image.

If Jesus is a man and God, then he is an idol, because he is a man's form who is directly representing God, not in the style of a prophet, where he merely relays the message of Hashem and is still mortal. No, he claims that he actually IS the same as God, and therefore, he is portraying something that is supposedly limitless, beyond gender, infinite.

There's a mystical name for God in Judaism, of the thosands of names for God. It is Ein Sof. It's my personal favorite. It means "Without End." It denotes boundlessness. Everything eminates from the Ein Sof... Nothing exists but the Ein Sof, that infiniteness. Everything else is illusion.

Of course, the above paragraph is just speculation on my part, but if there is a God, I hope that it is like the Ein Sof.
