Did I say ANYTHING about just "conservatives"? No.
Did I say ANYTHING about people "changing their minds"? NO.

It's about UNDERSTANDING other people's arguments and opinions, and realizing where the potential compromises are.
Not just openly rejecting them just because they come from "liberals".
Realizing that an argument for or against something IS NOT based on the capability to call somebody a "communist".
Learning SIMPLE ENGLISH COMPREHENSION so you can understand what is ACTUALLY being said.

This has NOTHING to do with "changing people's minds", but more to do about getting people to realize WHAT the other side is ACTUALLY saying, and WHY they are saying it.

And you are one of the worst offenders of that alias.

Bald-faced and idiotic lie.
You didn't even accurately evaluate what I JUST SAID.
You REPEATEDLY demonstrate that you don't read or comprehend what we are saying.

HOW can anybody actually believe you have "evaluated" anything when it's glaringly obvious that you don't even bother to understand it first...

I personally found that amazing. To have your opinion re-affirmed by a "debate", but then be unable to state what the other person's opinion/position actually was?

Personally, I can't stand the "shout TV" crap. Nor can I stomach instigators like Michael Moore or Ann Coulter.

Maybe it comes down to a question of whether or not you want "info-tainment", with precious little information, or actual information and actual knowledge.

As some on here demonstrate, they are just looking for an excuse to hold onto their existing beliefs and don't bother to evaluate anything that contradicts it...
So we're grouping independent documentaries all into a "segregating shout TV" group now are we? That's nice.

I think it would help for me to point out that I had pointed out their argument. They believed that the only thing that bringing Michael Moore to their campus was going to do is bring moral decay to their community. You're so quick to dismiss this documentary and group it into this "shout TV" catagory. When, the documentary itself was rather indifferent. There was no commentary from what I remember. It gave both sides interviews and a chance to give their opinions. Agreed there are some channels which are more biased than others; but the documentary itself I didn't find really biased. And even if such biased material is a load of honkey, maybe people should learn not to be so easily pursuaded. This goes for Fox News as much as Shout TV.

In fact, I didn't even see this film on Shout TV or Link TV or whatever. I saw it on DVD.

And to think that both sides have justified arguments all the time is rather naive. Sure you need to listen to both sides, and take into account their arguments. And a lot of the time, they provide some information which both sides can learn from. But in the case of that panzy that was trying to silence free speech by threatening people and bribing the college is just insane. There was really no political argument on their part. It was black and white, in some cases there isn't room for compromise. Its either Moore's right to speak his mind or not. And the law quite clearly shows that it is his right to speak. And Sean Hannity was only there to bash liberals and to squash dissent. True Michael Moore is controversial and can instigate things in such a community as that, but no one complained when they decided to bring Hannity.

I think I just did explain what you didn't understand and you ignored every single one of my statements, per your M.O.
If I were to repeat myself, why would I expect a different outcome?

The evolution of this thread is downright funny, if not also tragic.
FIRST you read the originating article and ask how we can fix the problem.
THEN, when you realize that you are part of the problem and you would have to change in order to help fix the problem...
... you then go back to EPITOMIZING the problem. Exhibiting PRECISELY the type of behavior discussed in the article.
