But Lucidthots, although really doesn't add much to the intellectual discourse, he's not really constantly hijacking it with mindless insults and profanity. Usually his firsts posts are sane enough to disprove his retarded assertions. Its really only after people sling mud at him will he sling mud back. Its really basic physics, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If you're going to throw insults at him, he's going to insult back.

You know what, there's a logical fallacy called the middle ground, and I think you make it on a regular basis. Basically, it works like this:

The basic idea behind many cases in which moderation is correct is that the extremes are typically "too much" and "not enough" and the middle position is "enough." In such cases the middle position is correct almost by definition.

It should be kept in mind that while uncritically assuming that the middle position must be correct because it is the middle position is poor reasoning it does not follow that accepting a middle position is always fallacious. As was just mentioned, many times a moderate position is correct. However, the claim that the moderate or middle position is correct must be supported by legitimate reasoning.

And your inability to see through political motives here, exposes your inability to see the more importance of banning someone like Alias rather than Lucidthots. I don't want to ban Alias because he is a conservative, so your assertion that I think Nazism is more sane than Republicanism is completely illogical and unsubstantiated, and you know that. Lucidthots may post a bunch of retarded radical posts...but he doesn't insult and direct profanity at other people on a regular basis.

You're just going to have to learn that there is a big difference between volgarity and political speech. There is a BIG difference between "You're a fucking asswhipe", and "You're just a Zionist hand puppet". Its sad you don't see this. Because obviously the first amendment does...and obviously the FCC does.

Don't turn and make this a political issue, because its not. It hasn't anything to do with me being a liberal, or you being a conservative. It has everything to do with people's etiquette. I remember we actually had a decent debate going on in the Popular Mechanics thread. Then all of a sudden you started to resort to insults. You can review it if you like. It usually happens that way.

If you had an email from a moderator (and I can probably guess who) telling you that you're doing a good job by "standing up to the liberals", then I can only say that if the entire administrative team of this forum truely thinks that constant personal insult and flaming is a good thing to have in a debate community, then I think I'm ready to say that I don't want to be a member of it any more. I hope it doesn't come to that, because this really was a wounderful community until you two arrived. Of coarse there were lows, like any debate. But with you, its constant.

I can say that I am guilty of perhaps not showing a non-violent approach to countering your insults. But you can't expect to get all flowery remarks from people when you constantly insult and belittle people.

That's all I have to say about the issue, and if any moderator is a responsible leader, he or she would take it upon themselves to uphold decency and make this forum a woulderful community to engage in intellectual debate once again.
