well i dont o if thats true or not and there are very probobly some exogeneous reasons behind it if it is.

i will give you an example on my side. China in the 1980s began Deng's market reforms, witch allowed for the sgameless exploitation of chineese workers by foreign and domestic capitalists.

within a decade 400 MILLION people were lifted out of poverty. this isnt talking about people in a specific area of mexico probobly being exploited by a government this a population the size of the whole of north america.
this is what free trade can do!

I think Mexico's situation is different because those with economic power have just as much political power; most of the profits on the Mexican side are going to building roads to and from the ghettos and factories in the borderlands. They offer nothing to the workers, wages continue to get lower and attempted unionizations are quickly stamped out by those with power.

I think China still has a problem though; all the fast-paced industrialized production is taking a huge toll on the environment. 8 of the 10 most polluted cities in the world are located in China and it releases 13% of the world's CO2 emissions. 75% of China's energy demand is met by coal, the world average is 27%. In addition to the air pollution, there is the problem of deforestation, soil erosion, and water pollution.

If you ask me, China's in dire need of environmental reform. Worker satisfaction isn't the end of it; Mexico has the same problem, but not nearly as bad as China.

ask one of the 400,000,000 chinese workers who was lifted out of absolute poverty of less than a $ a day if he would trade the nutrition and education of his children for a warming of the globe, which by the way is still overwhelmingly down to the arrogance of american poloticians.

i think hed say bugger the environment as it would take china years to spit out as many greenhouse gases as america has and yet they dont curb it. america could wipe out theire greenhouse enmissions altogether and end up with a GNI per head close to the eu average, chine realy couldent.

I think we have to do anything we can in our power to feed everyone on this planet. We have to stop it with all this separationist stuff, we need to think globally and do everything to help each other. We all have to share one world.

One world, one love.

Well.. what about the starving people in our country? Don't you think we should attack that first before we attack the world's poverty?

Those aren't starving people. Those are crack heads. They aren't skinny because they have no food they are skinny because they have fucked up priorities. That is an entirely separate issue. There are very few, if any people 'starving' from a lack of food in this country.
