Truman had his reasons. They didn't really know what an atomic bomb could do to people, at least in the long term, and Truman wanted to scare the Soviets. Was it right? Hell no. But he had his reasons, and politically, they made sense.

I believe it was right. It was right to save American lives. An invasion into Japan would have cost us Thousands and thousands of dead Amerians. They knew what kind of bomb they had. They did a test explosion in the New Mexico desert. Truman wanted to end the war and he did. If you want to stop terrroism, then blow off the head of the snake in Tehran.

That's a hypothetical. Many generals from the time period would have disagree with you. Heck, many military experts still argue over whether it actually saved lives.
