Smearing the Wilsons

The Washington power elite, like sharks, smells blood in the water. The midterms may well be a political earthquake. If the Dems take the House, investigatory committees are suddenly going to be subpoenaing documents on the high crimes and misdemeanors of the Bush administration. Traitor Rove's and Traitor Libby's outing of Valerie Plame as a CIA agent to the press to punish Joe Wilson for blowing the whistle on the Bush administration's foreknowledge that Iraq had not brought yellowcake uranium from Niger is likely to be item number 1 on the indictment list. The recent revelation that the first leaker to journalist Bob Novak was Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage, in a book by David Corn and Michael Isikoff, is irrelevant to the facts of the case. It is possible for Armitage innocently to banter with Novak about something that Libby and Rove deliberately leaked to other reporters for more sinister reasons. Rove said that Plame was "fair game," which shows his malice.

I think it's pretty simple.

This is a backlash against all the "smear the Bush Administration" crap that's been going on - concerning the Wilsons - for a long, long time.

This too shall pass. People will quickly tire of it.

The wilson's are getting back what they dished out. They are the ones who should be apologizing to Bush, Cheney, Rove, and Libby. They are not being smeared. The truth is being revealed. We all now know who was being smeared and why. You are wrong on this one. You don't have a leg to stand on. Armitage was the leaker and he did it intentionally to undermine the Bush administration because he disagreed with policy. At least be honest about it.

Karl Rove Won't Be Frog-Marched Across White House Lawn
Tuesday, September 05, 2006
By John Gibson

I have said much over a very long period of time about former Ambassador Joseph Wilson and his charge that his CIA analyst-wife Valerie Plame Wilson was outed by the White House in retaliation against Wilson.

Wilson went public with his dispute with the White House over the crucial pre-war question: Was Saddam Hussein seeking nuke-bomb material in Africa?

The Washington Post revealed last week that the person who actually leaked Valerie Plame's name was Richard Armitage, a former State Department official who was not entirely onboard with the Bush administration's plans to invade Iraq. Hardly someone who would out her to punish her husband.

Today The Washington Post editorial page said the following:

"It now appears that the person most responsible for the end of Ms. Plame's CIA career is Mr. Wilson. Mr. Wilson chose to go public with an explosive charge, claiming — falsely, as it turned out — that he had debunked reports of Iraqi uranium-shopping in Niger and that his report had circulated to senior administration officials."

The paper then picked up on a point I have been trying to make for months:

"He ought to have expected that both those officials and journalists such as Mr. Novak would ask why a retired ambassador would have been sent on such a mission and that the answer would point to his wife."

Wilson knew this, and The Post accuses Wilson directly by saying:

"He diverted responsibility from himself and his false charges by claiming that President Bush's closest aides had engaged in an illegal conspiracy. It's unfortunate that so many people took him seriously."

It is unfortunate. But so much for Joe Wilson and frog-marching Karl Rove across the White House lawn.

On some days they really hit the nail on the head over there at The Post.

That's My Word.

Wilson is a liar. you are defending a proven liar Child. You really ought to find out the facts before you stick your neck out on this one.
