American Facism is on the Rise...
AlterNet: American Fascism Is on the Rise

The precursors of fascism -- militarization of culture, vigilantism, masculine fear of female power, xenophobia and economic destabilization -- are ascendant in America today.
Fight the good fight, and die with the enemy's heart in your hand.

That was a great article. Although he mostly forgot a key element of rising fascism, which is happening in this country: a distinct free-market fundamentalism dogma and corporatism.

The real fascism in this world is fascist Islam and you know it but will not admit it. Your political correctness will not let you so you have to be a good liberal commie and blame America. I bet your mommie is proud.

Politically correct? By saying the United States is becoming fascist? You know sometimes I pity you for your ignorance, other times (most of the times) I detest you for your stupidity in action.

I don't blame America. I blame neo-conservatives, free-market fundamentalists, and religious fundamentalists and their policies. I love my country, and that is why I'm concerned for it because of where it is being led. I dissent because I am patriotic. Dissent is a key element of democracy, and without it, the whole structure will come collapsing down into senseless chauvinistic fervor and tyranny (which unabashedly you support). And your response only reflects that. For instead of challanging the message, you immaturely insult me with outdated and juvenile namecalling. How would you like if I just keep throwing "conservative Nazi" out into the air simply because I don't agree with you?

Hi guys, I was half watching a show on Book C-span which featured Thom Hartman, the author of a book called "Screwed: The undeclared war against the middle class and what we can do about it".

He touched on a few topics that might be of interest to this topic, such as the idea of things all Americans have rights to called commons, like the air and water, obviously, but also things like medical care and the way things are being privatized.

He also talked a bit about "Federalist 10" which was against the forming of political parties and also about how the political parties we have now were manipulated by special interest agendas and how the founding fathers had the foresight to try to prevent that from happening. He also said that the Republican party is funding the Green party...

There was also something in place called the Fairness Doctrine, which meant if a cable company (for example) was taking up space using rights of way along roads that were plowed by the public, they had to repay the public by providing free services to the public, like public television, but that now those in charge are trying to do away with the funding for this.

He talked about how people needed to get off their butts away from the television and start getting active civically. He mentioned instant runoff voting, which is a good way to help solve the problems we have when 33% of the people vote for one group, 33% vote for a similar group and 34% vote for a group with opposing values, when in truth 66% of the people oppose the 34% who takes the vote.

Anyway, there was a lot to it, and it made sense, I just wished I'd caught more of it. He wasn't talking about any party in a derogatory way, which I appreciated, and he connected a lot of history to the issues we are arguing over today and that may lead us to some solutions.

There is a lot of information on the internet. I'm convinced the net is the end of dominance by ignorance. We are no longer controlled by 3 organizations of media and the truth is getting out. It shows the danger of extremism on both ends of the right and left. We have to meet in the middle and I sure wish the damn dummycrats would think about our contry instead of their agenda.

Oh bullshit. This country is not becoming fascist. You point your holier-than-thou finger at you own country and ignore the true fascism in the world. You insult enough around here so don't go pointing any fingers. If you can't take it when you dish it out, then take up knitting or fixing the holes in your socks.

America is NOT becoming fascist. Not even close!

The only people who think so WANT to think so - and they WANT to think so based on their hatred of George Bush.

Yet neither you nor Jefferson (while adamantly declaring that any assertion about America going to fascism as false) have discredited any of the points that the author of the article brought up, or the sources and facts he cites. In fact I highly doubt you read the article at all. Right now if I were a passive observer, I would see that the author of this article is way more credible and backed than two morons spewing hot air.

I never insult anyone unless that has been done to me first. And even in the case of someone outright calling me names as you have done, I am usually mild. Or rather, I am more harsh when delivering the truth about someone else.

What sources and facts??? Newspaper articles give credence to his claims that grafitti occurred in Iraq, and we all know the history of My Lai and the other attrocities that Mr Goff cites.

But everything else is speculation and opinion. Mr Goff flirted with the Communist Party, and is a socialist. Let's see how about a little Poli Sci 101, Socialism arose from Marxism, and Fascism arose from Socialism, because the Fascist did not believe that Socialism could solve all the problems the workers faced and that true collectiveness required a strong state leadership.

We know that socialist and fascist oppose one another, therefore, anything that opposes the facets of socialism is wrong. Since fascism is the opposite of socialism, then anything opposing socialism must be fascism, hence, since the United States opposes true Socialism it must Fascist.

Great facts!!!!

dmk
Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles
