I agree that the Catholic population of Northern Ireland did have serious civil rights issues and yes, the Black and Tans were a despicable bunch of assholes. But you know as well as me that British troops were sent there originally to protect the Catholic population but, there were many Catholics and Protestants living side by side without problems. You still cannot accept the fact that the majority of people in N.I. wish to remain within the U.K. How can that be changed without kicking democracy out the window.

Thank you for approaching the subject with civility. As I read your post I could not help but wonder, if this is how it starts. Each side coming to the table, willing to listen and make some consessions to the other. I apologize for my previous harshness. I tend to get a bit carried away, and I'll admit that the ol' juice of the barley gets my blood boiling a bit. I have no beef with you. I suppose the issue is in many ways similar to Blacks in the U.S.
