Security on the trains
One thing I did everyday the last couple of years was take the commuter rail to my school in Boston. One thing that did have me question a lot was train security...I had these thoughts before the London attacks and I actually talked it over with my father for a bit.

What do you think about train security today?

I think the idea of random searches of American on public transit sytems is horrible and a huge step in the wrong direction. How long before we are forking over our papers on demand and saying 'Thank you Comrade Commisar' ?

Have any of you read 1984?

I just think the random searches makes me feel safer. I was randomly searched 3 times on my rountrip to Rome and they were really nice about it. They said it's just a routine they do to ensure everyones safety and I thanked them for that.

Oh granted. I know they are usually very nice, and quite pleasant. But I think that an X-ray of the persons baggage, and maybe a good smell of a bomb dog should suffice. I don't think having a stranger ruffle through my dirty undies makes me safer.

I definately don't think I should be restricted from carrying things like nail clippers and lighters. That's lunacy!

Furthermore, I think ANY search on a public transit system is boldly defiant of our constitutional rights and should not be tolerated. I for one would sooner go to jail than submit to the search.

I have been arrested for less.

LOL. No, I have never been gotten for that one, although I was chased down the street by a girls father in my boxers once... Boy I miss High School sometimes.

Indeed it was. But I actually had a hearty laugh about it when I got home. All my mother said when I came through the door practically naked was "I told you to leave that girl alone... "
