You can argue whether or not the campus police used excessive force.

But what is NOT debatable is simple: If this little dick had simply either produced his student ID, or left the library as requested, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED.

This was NOT a case where some campus police simply decided to run up and taser some innocent by-stander.

The first thing on the tape is the "Do not touch me" screamed comment, which sounded kind of childish. That and the "leaving this god-forsaken place" comment sounded kind of overly dramatic.
On another level though, the cops aren't supposed to touch you unless they need to.


The guy was in cuffs. There were at least three of the campus cops there.
There was no seen need to "subdue" him. He was just refusing to walk, which at best is passive resistance.


You know he'll get interviewed eventually. People are going to dig up info about him. People that live in the dorm with him (or whatever similar situation) are going to tell the cameras about him.
I'm betting he'll come off sounding like Rodney King. Which is to say, for anybody who is "listening", it won't be flattering.


It sounds like he is a student, and that the library has some specific policy for "late hours" access. I haven't heard the specifics regarding the policy, but I'm sure that will be posted too in the days to come. Whatever the policy was, it's obvious he wasn't following it.

But on another note, the additional comments from the campus cops about threatening to taser observers? That is NOT going to reflect well on them.

The punk is a muslim and the entire thing was a set up. How did the cops know he didn't have a card? Someone told them. Who? The guy who told the punk to do this. The entire thing is a set up.

You know, just ONCE it would be nice if you actually READ about a story and figured out the answers for yourself.
Instead, you just make stuff up because it's more convenient. You argue out of ignorance and conjecture because it's easier.

It would help if you READ the information presented to you...

"According to a report on the university's Daily Bruin, the incident occured at around 11.30 pm on Tuesday when security officers at the Powell Library CLICC computer lab "asked a male student using a computer in the back of the room to leave when he was unable to produce a BruinCard during a random check"."

They didn't know he didn't have a card.
They randomly asked people to show their BruinCard, and when this guy was asked he didn't have one.

GEEZ. READ about what's going on for once instead of just making it up.

They were performing a random check to ensure that only the people permitted at that time were there.
That's it. It had nothing to do with any Muslim telling them he didn't have a card.

And moreover, WHAT do they have to gain out of the situation of "staging" this in the first place? He gets asked to leave the building? He gets escorted out of the building.
NOBODY had any idea it was going to get that ugly. Muslims have nothing to gain out of staging this.

The hell they don't have something to gain out of this. Sympathy. Muslims are the new minority being victimized. If it wasn't staged, he still should have done what he was told. He should have stood up and walked out. End of story. No. He had to scream and holler and be a victim and make a big production to get attention. No matter if it was staged or not. The actions of these campus cops were purely vindictive. Nothing more.
There is a reason why such things are frowned upon. I guess it's a good thing you aren't in a position of such authority to do violence otherwise you'ld just end up in jail yourself...

You better go back and read the story again there Einstein. He was asked to leave and when the cops came back he was still there.
