School Rights
I want to discuss the rights teenagers have at school and the importance of them learning about rights and the importance of being a citizen. I feel it is important to prepare them for the real world and to understand it before being pushed out the door at time of graduating. Please respond if you would like to give your opnions regarding this issue.

I'm confused. What rights are you talking about? There are classes that prepare you for the real world, such as my economics class and my careers class; I took this year as a senior. My Economics class taught me about retirement plans, taxes, how to budget your money which we had projects to try to stay out of debt and much more. My careers class we went on Job shadows and studied up on careers and majors that we would need for our career in college. The rights of a citizen’s should have been taught to you from about 3rd grade and up. Is that not what American government class is for? If they don't know their rights as citizens by the time they graduate it is most likely their fault.

In curiosity when you say school rights, what rights are we being taken away? I’m curious.

Terribly false. Not only are most high school graduates unaware of their rights as citizens...many of the population 18 and older are too. I think everyone should take some sort of civic education or a government & politics class by the time they graduate high school.

That way they'll know if some asshole cop asks you to open your trunk for no reason you can tell him to go fuck himself. And yes, even if I had nothing to hide I would still say no...
But it don't take much to get me by

A government class was required in my school. I think it should be required in all schools.

You are taught about your rights as an american in american history, which is definetly a mandatory course and like Nebraskaboy said, in government. you study the constitution and bill of rights in both courses.

Again, you'd be surprised how little the average person knows. Hitting the Constitution and the Bill of Rights a couple times over the years in American history does not necessarily do it.
