Bullshit! Being tolerant of torturing other living creatures is miles removed from being tolerant of people who are different or live differently but don't harm anyone in the process.

What goes on at the chicken plant and the race track needs to be cleaned up too and there are people working every day to bring about positive changes in the applicable laws and regulations.

In the meantime, two wrongs don't make a right.

There is absolutely no excuse for forcing animals to kill each other for "sport."
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

Obviously you first have to consider it a "wrong" to be made right. I'm not that hard on dog, cock, or dog-pig fighting. A vegan thinks it's wrong to kill ANY animal. Your moral code puts your brakes on at pitting animals against each other. Mine stops at making sure they aren't stealing dogs or any other illegal procurement. Personally, as long as there isn't any organized crime involved, it's those people's business.

Animals fight in nature all the time, they eat each other, we eat them. It's really not that big a deal to me or the other people whose culture deems this acceptable.

While I would be the first to say that Mike Vick is an outstanding and gifted athlete;this really doesn't have anything to do with the charges proffered against him. I am glad of the new "no tolerance" policy of the NFL in regards to the offield behavior of its players. I really believe that the NFL commissioner will punish him more severely than any court could. Take Vick away from the football field, and what do you have- nothing!
I do believe in letting him and any one else charged with a crime have their day and their say in court. I believed he will be fined at most. I really think some better judgement could have been shown by Vick.

That echoes to what the late-Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis did to members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox. We all know that Shoeless Joe Jackson were among the players banned for life.

Even though a court of law acquitted them, Landis put the hammer down. And the men became nothing. Even Shoeless Joe ran a bar. The man could play, and he should be in the hall of fame, too.

Yes, he should have been more aware, if he claimed he didn't know what was happening, of what was happening. Oh well.

I mean they are animals. Not people. Are you aware that it is legal to eat dog meat in Canada? Google it.

eta...Look at these gorgeous dogs....They look like huskies or something, my favorite breed. This hurts my heart...
Eating dogs: animal abuse or cultural gap?
I didn't know Canada allowed that, for all we know people in Asia do it.

But I sure would not want to eat Fido. I love my dogs too much to even think about that.

That picture I posted on those dogs in pens hurt my heart. I feel the same way you do. But I have also seen cows running the streets in India while people starve around them. EAT A HAMBURGER!!! Different strokes...

I'm no animal-rights activist or anything, but this is absolutely barbaric. What kind of nut actually enjoys watching dogs fight to the death, then observes the loser's execution if it is still alive after the fight? I really hope this guy gets the maximum sentence if found guilty.
It's almost enough to get me to rethink my views on the death penalty.
Almost.

BTW, pitbulls aren't the savage beasts that popular culture portrays them to be.

I have a pitbull,(Not the one in the video.) and I could not possibly see him in these dogfights, he's too much of a baby lol. If raised properly, in my opinion and based on my experience, pitbulls can be wonderful family dogs.

Blame the deed, not the breed. (I know it's a 99 cent slogan, but it works.)
Nice photo. No, the pitbulls aren't the savage beats. It is the people who trained them for dogfighting is what makes them like that.

The maximum penalty doled out would be for only six years, and a $350K fine. But he might get off with less, if he is found guilty. Where is the late-Johnny Cochran, BTW?

That is disgusting for Americans to even think about; but in Many Pacific Rim countries; dog is a delicacy. Anybody who served in Vietnam will tell you the same. Now, I couldn't even consider it, let alone do it; but my father served in Vietnam; and he told me that dog is considered to be a delicacy. He told me of dishes like barbequed dog ribs, dog sausage, and another one made with jellied dog's blood being used mch like aspic that I can't remember the name of.
All in all, I think that the age-old saying that "there is no crime without pre-existing law" will come into play here. If Vick can be charged with an actual crime, then so be it; he will have to face the penalty of that crime. The NFL should proceed from there if they choose to impose sanctions. I understand they have already instructed Vick not to report to training camp- I'm just waiting to see if this will bring about a legal counteraction from Vick's lawyers.

It's said to even discuss having dog for a meal. Geezes. I believe everything you say, and to what FX said, too.
