Thanks. My boys love their dog. They're growing up with him and they just adore him. My older son loves to lay on the floor and let the dog rest his head on his chest. My younger son (age 6) likes to rest his head on the dog and get dog kisses. He says that the dog is his brother. They pretend that all superhero dogs they see in cartoons and movies is their dog. He's an Australian Shepherd and he can almost fly. Our last Aussie never jumped this high or jumped off of stuff that was so high. He's almost a year old and we absolutely love him. The plants in our yard don't quite love him yet, but he's a good boy and is getting even better.

We have a swing in the backyard. The boys sit on the seat (one at a time) and the dog pulls the rope with his teeth and gives them a ride. It's perfect and beautiful in a Norman Rockwell-balanced sort of way.

It's wonderful that you have a rescue dog and the she now knows love and kindness. The

Michael Vick is apparently a father. How can he even defend himself to his kids or explain what he was thinking when he drowned a dog for not being aggressive enough? What kind of example does it set?

When Michael Irvin was inducted into the NFL Hall of fame, he made a hell of a speech. I'm not an Irvin fan and never was, but this speech showed me something. He grew up. He laid it all out on national TV and cried. he cried for the example he'd set for his sons and the mistakes he had made. Oh, yeah, there were plenty of mistakes, but none of them involved torturing animals or abusing anyone or anything smaller than him. Drugs and sex shadowed Irvin's career. Torture, death, abuse, gambling and lies will dog (pun intended) Vick's career.

Michael irvin will always be remembered for his legal woes as well as his athleticism. Vick will be remembered for dogfighting and rushing for 1000 yards. I doubt he'll be remembered for much else.
Smart dog, pulling the rope.

My sister's dog, a partial Ridgeback (although native of Australia, yet it is smaller in size compared to a purebred), was seen wandering the streets about 10 miles SE of here, when she was picked up by Animal Control, and brought to the shelter.

My sister went looking for a dog, and discovered Lucy. Boy, Lucy was a scared dog when she was brought out for us to look at. Three years later, she just loves attention from me, and sure loves doing the same with me.

I put my hand over her eyes and the play "peek-a-boo" game with her. She loves that.

I am sure that Michael Vick knows he made a terrible mistake in his role of dogfighting. I agree with one of the posters, feeling that Vick should work in an animal shelter, seeing that the pets need adoption into loving homes, especially when there are young children around to see the pet they would have, appreciate, and cherish.

His ego didn't want to "step down" from QB to WR.

Vince Young will wash out in no time. His stock will drop and he'll be out.

As a Steelers fan, I am glad to see them go back to a traditional QB like Ben Roethlisberger. I think Ben has had his "duh" moments (motorcycle accident), but he can throw, he can play and he can get the job done.
He doesn't have to rush for mileage to win the game.
I actually got to see Kordell Stewart and Rashan Salaam play in the Fiesta Bowl 12 years ago, in Tempe, AZ. As my dad was a Colorado alum, I rooted for the Buffaloes.

Salaam is a local boy (San Diego), but Stewart played well that day, beating Notre Dame something like 42-17.

I hate to break up all this dog love...But I have to remind everyone that these are still just dogs. Some countries eat them, some cultures still fight them. I don't see the big deal about it. As long as they weren't stealing somebody else's dogs, it was their business.

It kills me some of the same people clamoring for privacy and "stay out of "my" business" are so against this guy for minding "his" business. Legitimate horse and dog racers probably go through many more animals than Mike Vick.

Yeah, I know what takes place in other countries like in Asia. I don't think anybody on this board does not know that.

Sure, their culture is different from ours. They try that in the USA, and unless they do it so quietly, Animal Control officers will get after then.

Not just Asia. It's a Southern Thang. I've heard of dog fighting in the "hood" where I grew up. Micheal Vick ain't Asian.

Some U.S. citizens grew up with it. It's simply outlawed now. Like polygamy, incest, and underage marriage.

You mean Southern thing? I suppose Virginia could be considered as part of the (deep) south, since the Civil War had its boundaries with the US and the Confederate States.

My late-godfather in Alabama didn't partake in any dogfighting, per se.

Mine didn't either, but that doesn't mean it wasn't happening. I'm simply saying that some people don't have a problem with it because it's something they have always been around, and as long as they aren't taking "my" dog, neither do I.

That's part of the problem with dogfighting though. These guys steal people's dogs and cats and throw them into the pit to stir up the dogs to want to kill. They take housepets and murder them.

I'd like to see Spuds Mackenzie and the Taco Bell dog brought out of retirement for a fight.

Bullshit. It is not a Southern Thing.

Cruelty knows no regional boundaries.

Dog-fighting is illegal here just like it is all over the U.S. The South may be a bit behind the times socially but we are
not barbarians.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.
