That's part of the problem with dogfighting though. These guys steal people's dogs and cats and throw them into the pit to stir up the dogs to want to kill. They take housepets and murder them.
I wonder how Richard Gere feels about all this?

I own 2 cats. But I hate strays. I have no pity for stray cats. They are target practice.

But no one should have their dog stolen from their yard. That's an entirely different crime.

My sister went looking for a dog, and discovered Lucy. Boy, Lucy was a scared dog when she was brought out for us to look at. Three years later, she just loves attention from me, and sure loves doing the same with me.

I put my hand over her eyes and the play "peek-a-boo" game with her. She loves that.

I am sure that Michael Vick knows he made a terrible mistake in his role of dogfighting. I agree with one of the posters, feeling that Vick should work in an animal shelter, seeing that the pets need adoption into loving homes, especially when there are young children around to see the pet they would have, appreciate, and cherish.

After we got our dog, the garbageman left the gate to our yard open and the dog got out. I had been watching for this since we got him. I always kept him inside on trash day. Well, one day we realized he was gone and at the moment the full impact hit us, the phone rang. A woman called to tell us she had found the dog about a block away. He had crossed the busiest street in the city. that's not saying much since I live in a quiet city and this is only two lanes each direction. Still, she said she watched him cross the street...in the crosswalk!

She didn't notice if he looked both ways.

"Barbarian" is what some people label hunters too. Especially "sport" hunters. One man's entertainment is another man's barbarism.

Hunters don't torture their game. As a matter of fact, hunter's sometimes track a wounded animal for miles so that it won't have to die a slow agonizing death.

Torture for "entertainment" is barbaric.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

You and I differ there. Strays should not be target practice. Don't feed them or encourage them if you don't like them, but animal cruelty is no different if it is a housepet or a stray.

Remember the a**holes who barbecued a live kitten in MO? Whether the cat had a home or not is irrelevant. It didn't deserve to be stuffed into a BBQ and poked at while it screamed in agony while a dozen onlookers cheered.

They are animals. If we can have record pay-per-view tallies to watch humans beat each other to a pulp, a few guys standing around watching a couple dogs or chickens bite and cut each other up isn't all that far off.

Again, one man's barbarism is another man's entertainment.

Cheney's canned hunts are barbaric.

We have a family friend who hunts. He's the guy you want to be stuck in the wilderness with, though I wouldn't want to repopulate the earth with him. If he kills it, he eats it. He doesn't use a high-powered rifle to shoot bambi at 500 yards. He kills for food, not sport and he respects the animal he's eating.
