We're missing something, people!
With all the crap lately that has been going on with Mike Vick, Barry Bonds, and Bill Belichick; has any of us noticed that we are in for some h--- of baseball divisional races? The New York Yankees are at this posting only 2 and a half games out from catching the Bosox. Considering that these two teams are part of some of the most storied rivalries in professional sports; what are you all thinking about how all these races will play out? Personally, one of our best baseball postseasons is near!

And I will be seeing the Bosox next Wednesday through Sunday, RHS. I got a loooooooong plane ride to look forward to on Tuesday morning as I jet from the far southwest to the NE.

Isn't there any way I can get beamed to Boston?

Even when the Bosox had a 15-game lead earlier in the season, I knew that no lead was safe when the Yankees were around. And there was all this talk about Joe Torre's job in jeopardy. Shades of 1978.

Even though the Bosox's lead is now 2.5 games, they have a 7 game lead over Detroit in the wild card race, if it matters that we know or care.

Unless Manny Ramirez gets healthy, I think the Yankees may overtake the Red Sox next week, if not this weekend. What's the matter with Eric Gagne???

The Red Sox schedule: Today @ Toronto; Fri-Sat-Sun @ Tampa Bay; Tue-Wed (09/25-26) vs. Oakland; Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun (09/27-30) vs. Minnesota

Yankees: Today vs. Baltimore; Fri-Sat-Sun vs. Toronto; Tue-Wed-Thu (09/25-27) @ Tampa Bay; Fri-Sat-Sun (09/28-30) @ Baltimore

True, H80. I remember my father telling me something about the Yankees awhile back: If you are a betting man, there probably is nothing hat comes closer to being a safe bet than the Yankees making postseason. It will be very rare when they don't. Nothing like our local Chicago Cubs; whom make postseason every once in a blue moon- but are locked in a tie with the Brewers for a divisional lead! Personally, I think this is all great. Isn't this just a little (or a heck of a lot) better than trying to dissect all the stupid stuff going on today? I'm so glad this Off-Topic forum is part of DTT, RHS!

You see that the Padres are also in a race? Most of the time I have to bite my nails the way they have played the last three seasons.

On the current 10-game homestand, they have won five straight. Arizona keeps winning. The Rockies swept the Dodgers in a twin-bill yesterday.

So for now, I guess I have to plan on watching the Red Sox at Fenway when (and/or if) they make post-season.

I watched the Cubs on TV last night inside the pressbox. The TV's had the Brewers, Phillies, almost every game on TV. The Padres finished their game before the Phillies/Cards finished theirs.

Yes, I know about the Padres. I apologize for not giviving them mention. I was just making example. But do you see just how great this is, people? After all, professional sports is just entertainment (high cost; but nothing more) and I have to disagree with RHS, But I enjoy the thrill of these races!

It is pretty quiet in the stands, though, at Petco Park.

Perhaps The Padre fans do not yet believe in their team. They have been having a lot of close calls recently.
Also, I forgot to mention that the Phillies are closing in on the Mets. Ryan Howard is knocking everything over the walls. Somebody is going to to pay a king's ransom for his next contract!
