Well, one Manning made it to the conference finals-the one that wasn't favored to do so. The Giants coaching staff did good to keep Eli within his game and keep him in a position where the game is close in the fourth quarter. The Chargers did the same with Rivers before the injury he suffered.
Looks like Vegas gamblers dropped a bundle today. If this were Wall Street there would be people jumping out of high-rise hotel windows! As it is, I'm sure there will be some men being thrown from their windows at home when they tell their wives how much money they lost today!
Thanks, Joe. I hear that there is a Noreaster in New England today, followed by frigid temps for Sunday. I understand that a high of 15 degrees is expected at game time, which is 3PM in Foxboro. The Chargers play that AFC championship game in Jan. 1982 in Cincinnati, when the temps were 9 degrees below zero with a wind chill factor of 50 below. Chargers really had no chance in that game with the elements.

They played in the rain in Pittsburgh, with temps in either the 40's or 50's, and won that game over the Steelers.

So anything can happen, I suppose.

Billy Volek, who engineered the winning drive (helped with a facemask penalty against the Colts) comes from Fresno State, located 300 miles from San Diego.

I thought the officials really controlled that game, and it sort of made me wish they would keep those flags in their pockets. Did anybody really see the holding call on the interception runback by #31 Cromartie just before the end of the first half? The announcers here said that was a phantom call.

The Chargers' secondary seem to own Peyton Manning, since they picked him off 9 times this season.

And Joe, why do you think that Las Vegas don't have any hotels with balconies?

LOL! That was a good one. Maybe Vegas will add to their quickie- marriage business by starting a quickie-divorce business!
I suppose this weekend's upset give truth to the saying "On any given Sunday.."

The quickie-divorce thing is one thing in Vegas. But for anyone who put $$$ down for Dallas and Indianapolis, thinking that it was going to be easy, well, they lost money. No window to jump out of in Vegas.

In 1995, I put money on the Chargers to beat the point spread in their game vs. the 49ers. They missed by a touchdown. Bummer!!

In 1996, I did the same for the Steelers vs. Dallas. Even though did beat Pittsburgh, yet the Steelers covered the point spread, and so I was a little richer by $9.00. I didn't care. The Cowboys fans lost if they bet for Dallas to win by more than what they were predicted to win.

Considering the number of turnovers, "better" is relative. The Patriots would wipe their butts with either team if they don't play better next week.

I don't want to say that the Patriots can be beaten, but they always seem to have enough to win anyway.

If what the Colts showed yesterday is all they have left at this point in the season, I'm glad they lost. It would have been a waste of time to see them play next week. Now I can find something better to do with that time.

That's real easy: root for the Chargers. They may need all the help they can get. It's amazing how their subs helped the Chargers to win yesterday. Just an incredible performance by the subs.

I have to say, though, that the NFL would rather see the likes of Green Bay and New England in the Super Bowl. $$$ is what brings people from snowbird country to the desert of Arizona.

Roger that, H80. The Chargers running back Michael Turner comes from North Chicago, Illinois. My older brother still lives in Waukegan; which is practically next door. I was most impressed by Turner's performance Sunday and I pray for you that the Chargers do not let this young man go in the offseason- the Chicago sports pages are already calling on the Bears to actively pursue this young man to give the Bears a credible running threat; Cedric Benson is not the answer.

As to the Pats...yeah tough team.

But even David with his slingshot bested Goliath.

I would not mind the Pats winning if they didn't have Randy Moss on their team.

And of course when they play against the Pack, I mind if they win then too.

It was funny watching Mike Holmgren last night as he coached the Seahawks and use to be our coach. I absolutely adore our new coach, Mike McCarthy. He carries himself in such a calm and peaceful way. And evidently has the gift of uniting the team, and he also made some real good strategies for the team.

OhDear

Beating GB in GB will be tuff. Its going to be about 4 degrees at kick off. But I wouldnt look past the Giants if I were you. You saw how that worked out for Dallas.
