| The only reason why soccer isn't as popular or hyped up in the US as the rest of the world, is because the game doesn't allow for commercials until half-time. | That's interesting. I can't even remember now if there were commercials during the World Cup only at half time or throughout the game. I certainly feel like commercials were played throughout the game. I think it is also because American players are not dominant in the sport. I believe the same thing about hockey. Canadians and Europeans make up the best in the game...there are so many dominant Canadian players. There are definitely a lot of very good Americans, but they don't really dominate the sport. Hockey has lost a lot of popularity in America. Whereas, looking at the most popular sports in America, in those sports, Americans are widely recognized as being the best in the world, or having the highest percentage of great or dominant players (basketball, baseball, football). In fact, all of those sports started in America, whereas hockey started in Canada and soccer in Europe. (? - I'm not actually certain soccer started in Europe, I'm pretty much assuming that) But it don't take much to get me by So just booze me up and get me high Ween | |||||||||||||||||||||
