Yeah, he's definitely good for a freshman, now that you mention it. I too wish that everyone would stay in school until graduation, but if he gets offered a contract worth millions of dollars, it's going to be very tempting. I mean, I'm not sure I'd want to chance that I get permanently injured later in my college basketball career. I don't know what he'll do...hopefully he stays in school, then has a very successful pro career.

I agree with your point on kids staying in school, Hwy 80. However, if some of these kids who come from very poor backgrounds are offered millions of dollars to exercise their God-given talent; can you really expect them to turn it down? It's kind of unrealistic to expect someone who has grown up poor to turn away from money when it's there.
That is not an excuse, however. I value education for my child as much as anybody else. I'm just stating the obvious in my viewpoint.

Hearing your name on ESPN everyday talking about how you are going to be the number one draft pick doesn't really motivate someone to stay in college. If it wasn't for that new age rule the NBA put in place last year Oden and Durant might not even be in college this year. Durant is absolutely amazing. I'm a Big Twelve fan and I watched him put on a performance against Kansas that was incredable. Bob Knight said "The guy is a great athlete that can really play basketball." He's an amazing player. I see him going #1 in the draft.

A lot of people use the off-chance of a permanent injury as the reason kids should stay in college and not go after the money early. But, isn't the reason we send our kids to college to get an education to make money and have more opportunity?
I respect your opinion. hopefully this does not sound like an insult; but this is why agent always get signing bonuses for their clients. Not to impugn college or education; but you can always go back to finish your education. Magic Johnson came out of college after his sophomore year and finished his education in the NBA offseason. This is the lesson that needs to be taught about college sports and money.

A57; I totally agree. Kevin Durant is a first round pick- I would even say the first pick in the draft. Many people can't stand Bob Knight as a coach or a person; but I will be the first to tell you that his ability to get 110 percent effort from his players is unparalelled.I may (and do) disagree with some of his antics, but I respect him in the basketball sphere
