Honestly, I think that there's more moderates then known...But most people, through misunderstanding, inaccurately class themselves as 'Democrat' or 'Republican' based off of what their 'main' voting platforms are.

Then add in the voting districts that only have 2 types of voting booths...'Democrat' or 'Republican' and the typical voter having to choose one or the other? Even though the ballot tickets are the same, the fact that you have to go to either of the 2 represented voting sign-in tables before even getting to the voting booth?

It simply just adds to the general confusion to say the least.
