Alternative defensive mechanisms
They say that guns have a valid purpose, to defend the houshold. IMO, guns actually are not the best weapons to use for defense. They have to be loaded, unlocked, and filled with ammo in order to be of any defensive use. Also, a home invasion would be a fairly close quartered conflict.

I would suggest other weapons as alternative. For fun, lets post alternative weapons for defense that are not guns.

I'll go first:

First of all, home defense is only ONE reason for gun ownership. And not even the primary one usually cited by defenders of the second ammendment.

Secondly, what works for one might not work for another. A baseball bat might be fine in the hands of somebody like me.. a reasonably beefy adult male.

A 90-pound woman might be better off with a shotgun as an equalizer.

Hmmm, no...An 80 pound woman can put a heck of swing on a bat as well as a big man...I know. I've broken a number of Louisville sluggers personally.
You shouldn't underestimate smaller people, especially females. Many of us are alot tougher and stronger then we look.
