I'm just stating the obvious.

For me, personally, I'm in a professional field that, at least for the near future, there is still a good demand for US-based workers.

And I don't have any outstanding debt and I have a little bit of excess money that I can invest with for my retirement.

But, for an increasing percentage af Americans, they wear a different set of shoes than I, so to speak.

And, even though I am generally an optimist, I see rough times ahead for many Americans.

So, if you ask me, they have plenty to potentially whine about...whether you care about their future or not.

I would explain it as being a cultural difference to be honest with you. Americans are cowboys. We like guns, and trucks, and scantily clad women. In other countries they like different things. That's fine for them. I think we can find ways to reduce gun crime, without impeding civil liberty, namely through education.
Fight the good fight, and die with the enemy's heart in your hand.

Describing gun ownership as a "civil liberty" is very American, very subjective and very 18th century!

Most other countries have moved on to define healthcare and tertiary education as civil liberties.

I think the US gun culture could be changed over time, in the same way that smoking has become much less fashionable and acceptable as it was 40-50 years ago

Eventually even the Pink Pistols may change their rootin' tootin' ways
