I'm off to work in a minute, but I just want to point out that no-one{but especially Gary} has eplained how they determine right from wrong, other than by leaving it up to God/existing laws.

So can anyone tell me how they determine right from wrong in an objective sense?

If it's okay for the cops to shoot fleeing property stealing crims, why isn't it okay for homeowners and neigbours?.....remember, obeying basic moral laws overcomes all these problems.

Allowing people the option of shooting burglars should dramatically reduce crime, but favouring the status quo would presumably mean crime levels either remained the same or increased, IOW, those who favour the existing laws, also favour criminals routinely breaking and entering, stealing, and any possible additional criminal activity, ie, rape, murder, violence.

Even though I don't like the idea of shooting a 17yr old kid with a few of my DVD's, if that's what it took to eliminate or dramatically reduce crime, then I'm in.
