Fun Facts about gun control
Gun facts:
Guns are used nearly 2.5 millioin times a year for self-defense.
In those self-defense situations the citizen will only brandish the firearm instead of firing.
In less that 8% of those attacks will the citizen be wound the attacker.
Nearly 2 million of those cases involve handguns.
Almost 10% of those cases involve women defending themselves from sexual abuse or attack.
Guns are used 60 times more often to protect the lives of law abiding citizens than to take a life.
In an estimated 300 million U.S. population, an average of 1 out of 105 people that you know will use a gun in self-defense every year.
Burglars are 3 1/2 more likely to enter a home in a gun control country like England than in the U.S.
U.S. citizens shoot twice as many criminals each year than the police do.

D.C. ,with it's hyper-restrictive gun control laws, has well over twice the violent crime of fairfax va, which has basically no gun control laws, yet over twice the population of D.C.

Right after Australia introduced gun control laws crime went up dramatically.

Toxic, I asked you this question before and you ignored or missed it.

It appears from your posts that you use the phrase "gun control" to mean that all gun ownership is forbidden, that only the government can legally own guns.

Is this an accurate explanation of how you are using that phrase?

If it is not, would you please tell us how you do define "gun control"??

"Gun control" is how I please my girlfriend.

"Firearms restrictions" are something I'm against, in most cases.

Such as which firearms restrictions?

I am curious about people's definitions because oftentimes I find that those of us that consider ourselves on opposite sides have lots of common ground when we discuss the details.

The rate of firearm deaths in the United States (14.24 per
100 000) exceeds that of its economic counterparts (1.76)

eightfold

Yep that sounds like a lot of fun in the Land of the Free - 8 times more fun to be exact

Please tell me it was your NRA weekly newsletter?

Fact: within one hour drove of DC are four different states who don't share DC's gun control laws.

How hard would it be for someone to get a gun in DC?

If gun control were ever to work in America - which I doubt - it would need to be based on national laws.

But first there would need to be an extensive and long term education program to break down the entrenched gun culture of wackos like Toxic.

Such programs have been successful to some extent in re-educating Americans on drink-driving, using tobacco and eating fatty foods.

Right after Australia introduced gun control laws crime went up dramatically.
Fact: the homicide rate in the USA is about

SEVEN

times higher than in Australia.

No doubt the Australians are grateful that God didn't give them that right.

Well!! Maybe the NRA runs the whole town of Fairfax, VA. Wayne LaPierre must be the mayor of the town, since they don't need a police chief there. (Sarcasm)

Gun control laws will never prevent people from getting guns, they will only punish people for having them. Anyone who thinks that a law is going to do anything but make guns more valuable is an idiot. Look at how well prohibition, and drug, prostitution, and gambling laws work. They don't. More laws are never the answer, how about we have less BS laws, and then we can actually find/prosecute real criminals such as murderers.

garysher: 8 times as many gun deaths in America as europe, interesting, it is also interesting that black people in America are over 8 times as likely to commit gun crimes than white people...... oops I'm not supposed to talk about that though.
