According to a Recent issue of "America's 1st Freedom", an official magazine of the NRA, there has been legislation propsed to ban all .50 Caliber rifles, categorizing them as 'Sniper Rifles' and potentially dangerous weapons of terrorism.

Should any gun be banned just because of it's caliber? Aren't all Guns 'potentially dangerous weapons of terrorism'? That does not mean we should ban them. Does any one believe that banning any guns makes the country at all safer, especially from terrorists?

How much of our freedom will we surrender to the 'War on Terror'?

I don't think the public should be allowed to own any form of weapon specifically designed to kill humans. 1 & 2 shot hunting riffles are the only thing I support and only under strict control.

I think that is way too restrictive...

I think gun education is a better solution than banning anything.

Never forget, sometimes, people do need shooting...

And that is what law enforcement entails...
Or do you suggest people have the right to issue justice on the spot? And how does this keep our society safe on the whole versus something more reasonable?

You can create an extreme scenario where someone has to put a bullet through someone to save thier own life... but on the whole how is that a better plan?

If you enter my home, and are not welcomed, I will warn you, then I will shoot you. And I will be well within my rights. You can not always count on the police to respond in a timely fashion, especially not in a city like Philadelphia...

I'm from the D.C. area and the gun violence is simply amazing around here. An average of 3 dead a night via gun related violence.

And I would be willing to bet very little of that is from long guns, or legal weapons of any kind.

You are right: mostly handguns that are usually stolen from those who bought them legally.

And yet DC has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation. A law-abiding citizen does not have the right to own a gun in his home in DC, yet DC still has the highest rate of gun related violence. Glad to see that gun control really does work.....NOT.

It isn't working, which is why we need to ban them altogether nationwide and start the long process of getting them off the streets permanently. Banning them in DC is a moot point when all you have to do is jump the border into Maryland or Virginia to obtain a weapon of personal destruction.
