I hope so. From what I understand, it can be pretty damn dangerous for contractors over there too.

My nephew is also going back over soon (his second time) as a chopper mechanic with the 101st Airborne.

Yet some of the cities with the largest populations and more strict gun control laws have higher murder rates with guns than the lower populated areas. Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. So obviously criminals ignore the law as was pointed out before.

Furthermore, the presence of police officers in this cities is probably hundred-fold over the more rural areas. You can call 911 in a city and an officer will respond in a rather quick manner (i.e. 10 - 15 minutes in most cases). In rural areas sometimes there are only the state police and their response can take as long as 30 minutes.

Like it or not, most of those who own guns in rural areas do so for protection. Folks who live in the city are tired of all the gun deaths they see and hear about and want protection. The realities of each are different.
