I know you are being silly.... but ban guns and fence the damn pool.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

Unless you are forced to take drugs or someone smashing the liquor bottle to use as a weapon they won't hurt anyone but the intended user.

That is not true of weapons.

Really? What about drunk people who beat their spouses/children? What about families that become homeless because the primarly caregiver(s) is/are addicted to something?

Well the way I see it, banning guns really isn't worth the loss of such a freedom. If someone's really so compelled and angered to go out and kill someone, they're most likely going to do it anyway...gun or no gun. Sure, shootings will go significantly down in this country (obviously, because there will be no guns), but murder itself wont (or at least any significant drop).

Human nature isn't something you can change over night by banning guns. Although I agree that certain weapons should be banned, such as certain high-caliber automatics and explosives. But weapons themselves shouldn't leave the scene.

I think alcohol highlights an underlying problem that is already there. I certainly don't harm anyone when drinking. I haven't become homeless either.

There is not a chance in hell this statement is true.

Well, maybe using a gun to go on a killing spree underlines a previously existing problem too. How do you draw that line?

People use their guns recreationally too. People go to firing ranges, or go hunting, or collect. How is that any different than hanging out with your buddies at a bar?

It's all about responsibility.

Responsibility sure. But the main factor for me is the potential damaged that can be caused by the item in question.

I think a drunk person behind the wheel of a car can cause quite a bit of damage. Do you blame the alchohol or the person?
